I edited one of my posts....deleted it....I went to delete another and it didn't give me an option to delete. Is that because there was an answer to it, whereas the one I deleted didn't ? Or did I miss something ?

probably, if you create a post and nobody has posted a response, you may delete it. otherwise, you're stuck with it.

You can edit any of your posts at any time.

Yup, if a topic has replies only a mod or admin can still delete it for you (though usually a lock is preferred for double posts etc that have replies).
