static UI

Post by lizardkid »

in my ever-increasing curiosity of GUI, i'm trying to make a small UI on my screen, i'm not even sure what i'd want on it, but i'm curious how to make a UI that can be toggled but doesnt take the focus away from the main part of the game. such as the healthbar, it's there, it's toggleable, but it doesnt restrict controls or bring up the mouse when it's in show. how could i make something like that?

ok well decide what you want on it, Of couse u cudnt have buttons really because u dont want no focus.

find the dlgeditor and and make a gui and then display it with showmenu instead of pushmenu. This way the focus is still on the game but it becomes visible. It's toggleable also, setup a bind to toggle it on and off swapping the bind to hidemenu. You could also use ui_addhud and remove hud.
