Cambodia Raid reviewed!

Post by jv_map »

I finally finished up my review of Mj aka Imperfection's map Cambodia Raid. I took a little longer on this one as the detail found in this map is truly exceptional. All available time is best spent playing this map, but if that's not an option you might consider reading the review instead.
  • Cambodia Raid is a very original objective map set in a thick jungle environment. Axis forces are to infiltrate the massive Allied base and blow up the invaluable supply of wooden crates at all costs. Time setting is definately post-ww2, as the scene features several cola machines to keep even the sleepiest sniper awake. It should be clear this is not just some juicy forest to enter unarmed.

Unless it's playing hide and seek the entire review should be here.

I appreciate the high score of this map, mj did some nice work on this map.
The best thing on this map for me is that the map is small but very playable, you can already have many fun with 2 players, but you can also play with 16 players. I also love the detail of the trees shadows, however he made the trees himself and that's cool, he's very good in making objects with patch meshes.
Nice job MJ it's a good map and a nice review JV.

Yes, very nice job! I noticed you threw in the .map file with it and I was very surprised at the amount of patch mesh used. Those trees are really sweet! Great job!

 Very nice work!
Loads of detail work yet good frame rate. Looks like a keeper.

Awesome map MJ or should I say Mesh Master

2 things bothered me, some of the doors only open outward and the metal stairs in the courtyard didn't have the metal sound. but thats just knick pickin.

killer map and the details and textures are outstanding

the only bonepick i have is the soda machines, kills the 'atmosphere' when you run into them but maybe they're in there as a joke on capitalism or something.
i'm not f****** angry, i'm from philadelphia .

Played it again last night with several people. The major problem is the Axis have to attack from 2 spots that allow them to the allied side of the map, either up the metal steps or those main concrete steps so all the allieds have to do is cover those 2 spots :?

Anyway, everyone loved the envirioment.
Am I going nuts or does the Vietnam map in public release look identicle to MJ's?????

Or does he have several different names he goes by? :?

It's already been explained that he used an alter ego to get more honest feedback.

That explains why the Vietnam screen shot is identicle to Cambodian Axis spawn area :?
