Just a tinybit of help...

Post by Kiko »

ok, I did a triggered door.

You go to the basement and click the switch (the trigger is there)
it opens the door, yay!!!

well I want it to post to the user, not everybody, but to the user that the door is now open!

trigger: target/door1
door: targetname/door1

There is no scripting, but I have a feeling there will be, if you help me I will leave credit on this map, probably not the next, but this map ;)

===========Oh, and I'm sorry for asking so many questions lately===========

Give the trigger a key/value of:

message/ The door is now open!

Ok, on your trigger, you already have assigned it a key/value of target/door1. To give it another key/value, just select your trigger and hit n to bring up the entity dialogue box. From there, just type in a new key/value of message/The door is now open!

Keep in mind that this message will play for the user everytime they use the trigger. Does your switch lock and unlock the door? If so, you will probably want to use a different method that can display two different messages that would state whether the door is locked/unlocked.

ahh, it was actually opening the door, but I guess I will redo it so that it unlocks and locks the door...

Tltrude has a good tutorial map that shows you how to script lockable doors.
