vis size & FPS

Post by CowBoykillers »

I read a few post in here about the vis size and everyones input on how to shrink it down by making stairs and trim and stuff like that detail which i have done and my vis file is 1.78 MB im not done with the map yet so im pretty sure im gonna go over the limit. The other thing i saw you mention was the use of hint brushes. My question is how do you make the hint brushes. for example if you map is 4000 x 4000 do you just make a cross section from floor to ceiling and the hint brush being 8 units thick? So it would be a wall 4000 wide by however tall and then the other 2 pieces to make the 4 sections?Or would you just make 4 big cubes to cover the map? any help would be appreaciated. I know long stretches of road doesnt help the FPS and wide open spaces but i like the map and just wondering if there is anything i can do to speed up the FPS. Dr ABAP had offered to check the map file. I would add screen shots to this but i dont know how. Thanks
