i'll get back to my normal, expected/unaccepted rantings in a moment but gonna get serious for a second here.
"but PKM, we've grown to groan at seeing your entries/posts in numerous threads where it is as unclear as a morning sky over anywhere, canada wether you're serious or just 'baiting'; how do we then accept your proclamation of a one-time dose of seri-osity ?"
bear with me....
this is all on literature. just finished a book titled "Nano" by john robert marlow and i suggest you pick it up. it could easily be the nano-technology world's 'brave new world. it's a thriller, action and future warning on the advancement of nano-technology written in a way that even if you read novel versions of movies, you won't feel like an idiot. the book takes some getting used to; for even though marlow uses the usual thriller novel approach of going back and forth between characters with each paragraph, he does so without the obvious linebreak sometimes (is very frustrating at first to the point i almost dumped the book assuming it was poor handwriting) and what seems like a story that will just be another clive cussler/dean koontz woman and man work together heroic thriller turns out to be a great cautionary tale on what will be the 'power' to end all 'powers'.
the actions scenes are very well laid out and though hollywood-ish at the same time very 'unforgiving' in that hey, when something bad happens, something violent occurs, the chaotic nature within allows/shows no mercy.
the parts where the hero/heroine discuss the moral applications of such a power that has never been seen by man (and for once totally believable for listen up kiddies, it will exist soon) are not watered down nor overexplained but ring true and reek of fearful understanding/realization.
this book isn't a spy thriller nor a science fiction piece; as mentioned above, it's simply a very well written prolouge into mankinds envolvement with technology that may or may not over run him. let's hope we can keep the pace when it's realized.

British
My guess is the book is British. They sure seem to love writting apocalyptic books, movies, and TV shows. But, who am I to complain--I love those stories as well.

might pick that one up hog-o ; used to like the occassional nuke aftermath type book ; the best ever being War Day. another good book on the subject with a steven king/dean koontz type twist is robert mccammon's Swan Song, sort The Stand VS. Nuclear War. <----really really good book.
