Quick Question: Map File size and Detailed Brushes

Post by acdc992004 »

I am currently working on a moderate size. Its not too big not that small either. But i have made many brushes detailed brushes in an effort to cut down vis datasize. But now my bsp it about 10 mb big. I was expecting it to be about 3 or 4. Will making detailed brushes increase a maps file size?

about 1/2 the bsp size is from light data. Maybe haveing so much made detail the amount of light data has increased . More detail does not decrease Vis data size it does make complileing faster though . Makeing things detail is good when those things should not be used to figure out vis small things and stairs etc but you need the walls and major structural brushes . I know there are some settings you can use I think -bounce is one of them . Maybe that is just the size the map will be and anything you try to do will just take away from the map .
