Frustrated, bored anyone?

Post by Uknowme »

I visit this site and have done several times a day for the last few years and its sad to see the lack of new posts and general interest in the mohaa series, is the modding community for this game realy as dead as I fear?
People that know me know that I have released a few maps (under some name or other  over the years) and as I sit here now i'm toying with another :Image
I'm doing this out of boredom more than anything as I did plan to go mapping for COD2 *sigh*.
Anyways back on topic and there was a post refering to this a little while ago but I want to know is anyone actively doing anything at the moment, maps for instance? Have all the real good mappers, modders left?

tltrude, Blair, JV do you still map/script? (Mj) I know, like me was, and still are awaiting the COD2 tools)
I just don't want to see this community fade away on its current path so come on guys lets get busy with it and produce something of quality!

I would love to do something good for MoH, but no one ever plays MoH maps; and hey, I like to see my maps played. Also, mapping now for CoD is much more satisfying, due to the better quality of the engine - although I must say that I haven't found any CoD mapping community to match how this one was. A good proportion of people have left MoH, I think due to its sheer outdatedness... Another thing, I used to enjoy pushing the limits of the MoH frontiers, playing with lighting, angles, meshes, shaders, textures - it all - and nowadays I simply dont hava the motivation to do that... Maybe it'll be re-kindled in CoD2 - If i get it that is...

i don't believe mapping with mohaa has reached it's limits just it's limits in interest. i love mapping with radient for mohaa but not enough players are interested in modern maps and i have no interest in doing 'what everyone else is doing (although what they do do is fantastic) but i'm having a hard time deciding wether to modern map with HL2, COD2 or BF2. so for now i'll stick to mohaa modern mapping.

Good to know that your still working on that Jv and great work by the way
Mj I understand completely where your coming from but don't abandon us yet! I can relate though cos after weeks and sometimes months of creating a map to see no-one playing it is disheartening to say the least.

PKM I have noticed your maps and understand that you like to build modern types and you do a very good job at that type of genre even though I personaly prefer the WW2 feel, even if I have to admit its getting a little tired.

Anyways guys its good to get a response and nice to know that people are still commited and working on things :D

I'm done with MOH, the main thing i ever wanted to do with it was mess around with it's AI and create some cooler moves and/or intelligence. but so help me that system is so screwed it's not even funny, and as a result my one release a tad buggy :P

but i always enjoy seeing the pure skill of all the mappers here.

and JV's creations of course :P

however the MOH series has a bad rep atm, MOH:AA is glitchy and easily hacked due to it's moddable nature and minimal anti-cheat ability. i still consider it one of the best games of all time (my favorite shooter to date) because of the leaning/strafing/sniping combination.

MOH:PA was pushed too fast too early and, well... we all see how it turned out. it had serious potential but the team never got to finish it. and it didnt have the arcade feel of AA either. Too typical of all shooters nowadays, all luck. the guns dont shoot straight (even the rifles) and you cant move with any precision or constant speed. ahh how i miss MOH's movement.

I personally prefer WW2 maps for MOH, simply because it's themed like that. however i always play SP before MP in a game so i get the feel of a game that way before i ever see a modded bit of it.

The backlash against ww2 games has officialy hit... it hit much earlier on consoles, but consoles are for noobs.

The amount of people ive heard say 'im kinda sick of wwII shooters' in the past 6 months is getting pretty large.

Personaly, all modern combat means to me is your going to die before ever seeing your enemy more often then not... hardly my top choice for a simulation. And then when the simulation has more in common with combat a decade ago then a decade from now(bf2~) your left not likeing the premise AND its result, and the crap engine to boot =)

good thing I didnt pay for bf2, would be so annoyed...(free with gtx)

It would be cool if someone could make de_dust2 from CS:S for mohaa. That would be a good map 8-) Is it possible? :?:

I've been lurking here a while and only just started mapping for SH.
Thanks to the help of the members here I'm learning new stuff all the
time.

I know i've come to the mapping/modding MoH community late as everyone now seems to be going over to CoD2 but the clan i'm in still activley play SH as do others.

More than anything I'm glad I found this site when I did as I have learnt lots from the tutorials and the posts in the forum, so thanks to the mods, admins and posters of .Map :D

Uknowme - Would love to get my hands of some of those prefabs :D

So to answer the question some of us are still mapping for MoH :D

My latest creation can be found here if you want a look.....

I just can't help coming back to MoH, modding it is so damn easy! ;)

At the moment I'm working on a little project alongside with our controversial friend from Philly. :P Go to http://www.urbandead.com/ to get the idea of the theme we're messing with.

I've been looking through this thread for the last couple of days and felt I needed to jump in aswell :D

Seems to me there is still some spirit left... and looking at some of the names still roaming the forums, one could imagine some project coming together.
