weird texture glitch

Post by kkcahdcakcyt »

I've made some brushes and get this weird glitch in game, it disappears and connects a bunch of grey and white squares to screen, its not the texture because its used in other places and works fine. I've remade the brush many times, deleted it only ot have the next one do the same thing

Maybe you are using mohaa tools to make a map, using textures only available for AA, and loading map into SH........?

That would make sense if the texture didn't work for all brushes. But it works for them all except this one. When i deleted this one, the one adjacent to it began the same problem, even when i changed the texture.

So I suppose its not really a texture problem, but the brush is on normal grid size 8 and it snapped ont he grid

what would that have to do with anything? Its a stock texture, and in game a single brush does this no matter what texture I put on.

I think it might have something to do with the brush, but I've remade it and even deleted it causing another one to do it.

custom pk3's have custom textures in them that will effect "stock" maps. Also, some custom weapons pk3's will do the same if the have been re-skinned. Try removing them....couldn't hurt.

I removed all .pk3 and it was still there, except for the .pk3 that contains the map and its own custom textures.

Removed those still there.
It won't go away

Is your file structure for your custom textures set up right ?

if it works in one place and not another, it's a mapping error. When the texture's loaded it cannot be messed up in one place and not the other, unless the brush is screwy.
i suggest deleting and remaking the brush, and for good measure selecting it and hitting ctrl-g in the editor, just to be safe.

i'v remade it multiple times, still comes up weird. It's not odd dimensions either I'm just drawing a brush 512 x 488x 8 and no matter how many times i remake it, it won't work.......

What texture is it? I want to make a brush with that texture and see if it messes up on my computer. Or maybe send me the part of the map with the problem and I can try to take a look at it. :?

I've had something similar happen like that, but my problem was brush work disappearing. Later found out it was because of cloning too much...........let us know how you solve it.

It is the old ladder glitch when you have too many rungs connected to a brush . You must have something like that a railing maybe is that what I see in the background ? make the brush the posts are touching into several smaller brushes . Better yet use a railing texture and one brush for the railing the posts in this pic are one brush

ah....there we go...explains why this was happening to my ladder before too. Yeah I just divided it up into smaller pieces and it worked.

For making railing textures, how do you make the part that would become see through?

Do you just leave it transparent in the paint shop (gimp w/e)

How does mohaa have the black on foilage disappear? is that how you need to make your custom texture for the see through?

no draw for rialings and for your treeline. Just apply appropriate texture.
