Operation Iraqi Freedom

Post by grb »

Hi all,
I wonder if anyone, our a group of designers have contemplated or perhaps are in the process of creating a series of SP maps that would depict US Marine operations that took place during mid 2004 upward into the autumn period of 2005 for use in MOHAA.
LOCATION: Iraq.
I realize this would be a major undertaking to create new player skins, voices, weapons etc., but also realize a lot of brush details exists already based on the MOHAA north African actions, so one would not have to start from scratch. Obviously armor such as LAV, A1 tank, 7 tonner convoy trucks etc., would have to be designed, as well as say a TOW, M16, M4, MG240, and sniper rifle to name a few field infantry weapons.

It just seems like such an effort could keep MOHAA in the running for a long time once the base series where created.
So many towns/cities say along the Euphrates river and south of Baghdad could be realistically portrait.

If anyone is thinking about such an endeavor or is in the process, and needs help regarding historically accurate battles, e.g. say what happened at ar Ramada or al Qaim or Fallujah.................
It would greatly please me to provide help in establishing realistic historically accurate after action reports on some of these recent events in world history.
Being a bit older then some, I am actively involved in going to web sites that talk (show maps, battle action reports, analysis) of what has been going down in Iraq for the past few years.

Imagine leading a squad of US Marines as they patrol al Qaim and are attacked by a wild group mixed of Syrian, Morocan, Saudi Arabs with new skins, arabic voices, AK47's etc..

As for depicting pieces of some of the mentioned cities/towns/river hamlets, I can show where one can get Satelite zoomed in pictures of these places that would provide a feel as to just what is in these places.

At any rate. Been meaning for a long time to ask this question. PS. I have a nephew who is a US Marine who has been in Iraq for two deploys thus far. Damn I am so proud of all our men and women in uniform that serve with HONOR. And that goes for all the US allies in this WOT.

regards all,
George.

PKM,
Does your statement:
"not sp but mp, modern warfare mod allready had a modern iraqi map complete..."

Refer to a multi-player MOH map? OR to another game series called
modern warfare?

If the prior, pray tell where might I find the map/PAK? But I sense your statement indicates a map/script etc., was made for a game called modern
warfare.

No PKM was talking about the conversion Modern warfare of which was made around a year or so ago.
It was a bold and well executed conversion that brought updated maps and enviroments that reflected recent conflicts.
I have not got the d/l link but with a little searching i'm sure you will find it.
Its a great pity that all the team that produced it did not get the recognition it so deserved and like many other attempts at total conversions was doomed to fail because of the narrow mindedness of the mohaa community.

Uknowme,
Thanks for the clarification. Guess I will root around a bit and see if I can find a site that may have it lingering around.

To all that might have eventually responded.

Thanks in advance. But after finding a site that provides the package in question decided not to go for it. Since no SDK was provided nor SP maps
as a starter kit sort of guess I will simply forget the idea.
Thanks PKM and Uknowme for your feedback. You helped me close this case that has been in the back of my mind for some time.
Had been away from these boards for most part of a year or I probably would have noticed long ago, what the deal was.

PKM,
I didn't view your feedback as being in the least negative. You simply stated some facts, and I followed up on them.
I only have a slow 56 dial up line. So I am going to pass on trying to get an effective download. The pack is 97mb. It would take many hours to download, probably more then half a day, assuming the line did not drop out.
But after reading what is involved I fear the possibilities of screwing up what I have had in place for a few years. So I decided to just pass on it.
All the work they put into something that could have shown a lot of promise went down the tubes. Sad. It could have gone a long way in extending MOHAA's usefullness. Not everyone has the newer generation PC to play the ever increasing high end stuff. With the MOHAA SDK being available, it just seemed like OIF could have become a real reality in the gaming world, if they would have been able to integrate all the new stuff, or provide a new SDK that would work side by side with the AA stuff.
At any rate, thanks for your kind response.

the Modern Warfare package didn't have an SDK since it didn't change any major gameplay aspects. it's all pretty self-contained and works from MOHRad and SH SDK.

It was probably the best total conversion mod out that and i'm sad it didn't catch on :(

i agree with you on total conversion but having the helicoptor limited to such a ''boxxed in '' map kinda killed the fun. then again i'm partile to caskami/amigos and the whole city nights/saturday night fever series for conversions. those are the maps the got me into mapping.
