Post by [D.o.G]FaDe2BlAcK »

Ive got a problem with my hill LOD terrain, it wont stay rounded. On the .map file it looks perfect but in the game its just a triangle, anyone know why this is?

try changing the scale of your triangles (lod terrain/25%-100%)

LOD

Post by tltrude »

LOD means "Level of Detail" and it is set in the game options of each player. In your game, you need to check the terrain of your map at the lowest and the highest settings--because you don't know what setting players will use.

However, you can force players to see only the max detail settings. Go to the MOHAATools docs folder and read "MOH Terrain Editing Manual" and lookup "Editing facet flags". But, do not set the whole map to Max Detail because it will make it run slow for some players. Max Detail should only be used around building, roads, paths, and other places where you do not want the level of detail to change.

In the editor, you should set LOD to scale 4--to see what it will look like at lower detail settings. Your game is set to low detail, and that is why you see the spikes.

After you make terrain and hit x to bring up dots, you can then hit shift/a, that will bring up a small box with 2 options in it......bulginess and radius. After making choices, ( moving slider ), play with it a little to see if you can get your hill the way you want.
