grrrrrrrrrrrrr im going nuts, iv spent almost allday trying 2 figure this out..i m editing spearhead maps and trying 2 repack them.....but no matter wat settings and file directories i put mbuilder and mohradient 2, it wont work---basically, i hit compile map in mb, and no .bsp appears!!! its driving me bonkers--iv read ALL the tuts, and had my settings the same but no cigar.....if no 1 has any ideas, will some1 atleast download my .map files and convert them for me??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I take it it's the spearhead sdk you are using... and that you are loading the released map files...?
In the mainta folder, create a folder named maps. In the maps folder, create one that says dm.
this is where radiant should be pointing, by default..maybe
Mapbuilder setup should be :
MOHAA
MOHAA TOOLS or SDK
mainta/maps/dm
go into other options and select ffa/dm........hit ok or enter
select your map file, hit build map......
did you try and make your own first ? a small box with a light entity and a player start will get you on your way. Trying to edit stock maps, without first learning anything, can cause you some problems.
If you are taking the bsp files from the original games, and trying to work with those, forget it. No reverse engineering on those. Only problems
no i wont post them here......u ever hear of limewire?? we could direct connect....or hamachi.....wat are u using 2 email??? we could try aim or msn....
im in eastern US.....the .map we could try 2nite is 12mb......im still working on it........u got aim or msn messnger? btw, is there diff versions of mohradient?????//
12 megs is big for a .map file. Maybe thats why you are having trouble compiling it. Did you try a small map, say, like the size of a small room, just to see if it works ?
I don't, and won't use programs that leave my machine open to the web.
Try a small map first, tell me what happens. It should only take you about 10 minutes to get back to me.
If you put together a map thats 12megs large, and you didn't stop every-so-often to compile it, it's gonna be a bear to find and fix all that may be wrong with it. You should do a little work, compile, then do a little more, that way, catching mistakes as you go. Save it under several different name, or versions as you go.
Is your .map a decompiled BSP? The bsp-to-map decompiler doesn't make a usable .map file because it creates thousands of extra brushes and fails to create a lot of the triggers and other entities. It is used mainly to study how things were made and maybe copy a building or two.
hmmm no tlrude........btw im making these maps for sh, but right now im trying to compile mohdm1, 2,3,5,6,and7--do i put the .pk3 in main or mainta, im playing sh?......also, where do i get sh scource maps???
I would compile your maps for you, and I have a place to host them and everything. I could also take a look and perhaps see if there is anything suspicious that would interfere with the compile (I know I am not the most experienced mapper here, but I still have been doing it for a few years, so I have much more than basic knowledge). We could use AIM for you to get the .map files to me. Feel free to PM me.
BTW, the SH source maps haven't been released, only the AA ones have.
Ok......i finaly got mbuilder 2 work, and have compile my maps!!!!
anyway i am gonna clue u guys in on what im doing so u can help me better
to but it all in a nutshell, im making the maps/textures&colors more detailed and realistic.....i want to release these to work client side and maybe serverside---well my updated maps look awsome on a test offline server-BUT when i try to connect to a server i get a checksum error, each is diff for each map.........how do i bypass this???
