Can anyone help me?
Hi... I realized that I posted this question before in the wrong section and I apoligize for that. Below is a screenie of my problem. The brush above the doorway has no shadowing compared to the walls next to it, and I was wondering if anybody knows how to fix this? I don't use csg subtract and I have now tried multiple times at remaking the brushes and even the map! Thanx for this great website

Tell me you tried to re-exture everything at the same time.
From the picture it looks like you textured everything, and then added that little part above the door, and then slapped the same texture on it, but it didn't fit right. Or you didn't select the same texture.
But, how's about this.... is there a light entity hanging from the other side of that brush ?
What happens if you delete the little brush above the door, then highlight one of the walls, move it over, and then make it fit the way the one you deleted did ?

Yep I selected all of the brushes and re-textured them to make it all match up. It looks fine on the outside of the building, but anytime I have to split brushes like that for doorways or windows, it shows them like so.
It seems to me that it isn't shadowing from the brush above it (ceiling) onto the shorter brushes, as it is onto the longer brushes (if that makes sense), plus it's also showing the edges of the brush which is weird.
So far all I have is this building in progress, a skybox around it and one lit lightbulb hanging from the ceiling. Could it be that my skybox is possibly too close to the building? It's not touching it but it's about 120 units away from it.

For times sake..... delete the light bulb and light entity.
Highlight one of the walls and hit "n" .
When the box pops up..... in the upper slot type ambientlight ( spell it right )
in the lower slot type 50 50 50
then hit enter, deselect brush, recompile map, and see if anything changes.....let us know
WAIT...was typing and when I got back the picture was there
The skybox is right on top of your door way......move it away. Try placing some kind of wall around your map and put the skybox ontop of, and slightly behind... ( with edges touching )
When you texture sky and it is highlighted, hit cntl f, and it will "fit itself to you brushwork.
By the way, I didn't see anything from that second picture.? maybe it's me ..?

Is it possible for me to send you my .map file in some way? It's very small atm because i've been trying to figure this problem out for a long time, and I would really appreciate it. My skybox is not on top of my doorway it's about 120 units away from it, hense why I think it would be better if I just sent you my .map file. Thanx for your help.
wouldn't it be a whole lot simpler to simply select all the faces and fit them to each other? ctrl-F if i remember correctly?
shift-LMB all the faces in the room with the same texture and hit CTRL-F. this ensures they're all positioned the same, even if they were made at diferent times.

A good way to line them up is to select all the faces and use the middle mouse button to click on one of the faces , if fact that face does not have to be selected . I know thats not the problem but wanted to add that . I think it may have to do with some light source other than sunlight mohaa is bad about that some times .
