Der Vorposten coming in August 2006

Post by Stalker »

We aren't completely finished with it...There are issues with VIS but with
every day that goes by we are getting Closer. Also these Pictures are taken at 1280-1024 so when you click on them they might appear really big if your monitor resolution is super low. This Level was Designed by Phantom Warrior and Stalker. Also...If the level seems to Dark..Then turn up the brightness on your monitor. The Level is set to be an early morning raid. Therefore its Dark. The pictures will really look good as full screen.

Der Vorposten is a fictitious scenario, any resemblance to actual events are coincidental. .MAP has been a valuable resource for the necessary information to make this map possible. I want to thank the mapping guru?s for all the information they volunteered. My friend and ally, Stalker, is the mastermind behind all of the computer intensive facets of this level. Without his help, I would not have been able to do any of this at all. After working as an electrician in the IBEW for 34 years, I became permanently disabled from an on the job accident. Mapping has become not only a hobby, but also my purpose. The only reward that I desire is that people who play this level will enjoy it.

Well this is our first map. We started out not knowing a damn thing so after we were finished we had to go back and redraw about 50% of the map just to get the portals to work. Also there is a large outdoor area..thankfully a big wall surrounds the building which should make leafgroups easier to put in. This pk3 is approaching 20 mb. But as you can see from the fps there really isnt an issue with lag. i think one of those shots has over 500 fps. Below ground the fps are great since the design of the stage allowed for portaling to work efficiently. The lowest point of fps in the map on my system is 60 fps. and that is outdoors with all settings maxed out 1600-1200 resolution and full AA and AF. Thats without any leafgroups at all..

Thanks PKM?coming from you that means a lot! We hope that others will download this map level and enjoy playing on it. It has never been tested for large multiplayer use?.but, we are hopeful that it will play well with 30 players on TDM since that was it?s intended design use.
This map was inspired by elements of Stock MOHAA maps and 34 years of construction experience building everything from Residential Houses to Nuclear Power Houses, Refineries, and Actual Rocket Test Facilities for the Govt.; and,? Plus Imagination.

Download and Server for Der Vorposten

Post by Phantomwarrior »

Stalker and I felt somewhat guilty that we didn?t make the promised Aug. 2006 deadline. And we were excited about getting Der Vorposten out for game play, so we released the first download prematurely because the map still needed a little tweaking yet. Nevertheless, We will soon set up a server with a more polished map and with a source for downloading it. Stalker and I know that MOH is becoming somewhat obsolete with all the new stuff out there, but us diehards still enjoy the unique action that MOH provides. We love the stages that are commonly used for game-play, but we thought that it would be fun to introduce new stages that might help break the monotony of playing the same levels over and over. Ultimately we plan a series of 4 maps that connect scenarios into one theme. Der Vorposten is the beginning of the story that the 4 consecutive maps will involve. Hopefully, it will not take anywhere as long to complete the other map levels since we now have an idea of how make the maps. As Stalker said, Der Vorposten is our first map level ever. And I believe that we can only improve and make the other levels more efficiently. We still have a lot to learn, and appreciate all the help and advice that we can get from all of you at .map.
