TLTrude's Gotterdammerung map...a question

Post by Waylander76 »

Just wanted to know how the rockfaces were done in this map?

It's all brushwork and not patches or LOD terrain so how was it done?

Is there a tutorial anywhere?

Thanks

Well, if you mean the tunnel, it was made of patch mesh and turned into a script object--so it could be moved. I don't think there is any LOD in the map at all. The terrain is all patches or brushes with scrolling textures. The hills at either end do not scroll and the texture was scaled down to make them look far away--Atomic made them. Adding just the right amount of colored farplane fog also helped with the illusion of distance.

Opps! well even I make mistakes.

The cliffs in Gotterdammerung were copied form another Quake3 type game named "StarWars Jedi Outcast"--texture and all. They are made of solid brushes. There is a free program named Terragen that makes terrain like that.

Lol, that's called modesty. :P

Besides, Terragen doesn't make terrain but skyboxes, EasyGen makes terrain. ;)
