Always away not working

Post by walks »

Can someone explain how alwaysaway works with doors and windows.
I have several doors & windows that always open away from the player and some that don't but I have created them all the same way.
Anyone know why?

If you had done a search you would probably found lots of posts about that but I tell you anyway . If from your origin brush to the middle of the door points to either 0 or 180 you don't have to do anything but if from the origin brush to the middle of the door points to 90 or 270 you must use a key:angle value: either 90 or 270 .

I learned to do it using a spawn, just set a spawn in your doorway and set the arrow pointing the way you want the door to open and observe the angle then set your door to that angle.

I can do it without the spawn now.

the 2d topdown view and the entity menu's angle button set corrospond, 90 is up on the topdown, 180 is down, 360 is right, etc.
select your door/origin and hit n, just look on your 2d view to see which way it should go and hit the button with it.

i may not have explained it well but thats waht i do. of course i only use topdown 2d and the 3d view so it may work better if you use a different system.
