Download custom maps automatically- MapDownload(er!)

What is MapDownload(er!) - well, the name kind of gives a hint. MapDownload(er!) is a client side program that allows a user to download maps for supported online games from a large external download server. It runs from popular, widely used game server browsers like the All-Seeing eye, Xfire and Gamespy - when you join a server with one of the above programs, MapDownload(er!) will launch and get your custom maps for you.

Yeah, but what does it mean? - No more searching for custom maps! You will automatically download required custom maps before you enter the server!

What games are supported?
So far the only the medal of honor series is supported, however there are plans for games like BF2.

What if the maps I need can't be found on the download server? - Maps are allways being added to the download server, however if the map you are looking for can't be found, you can request it be added to the download server by posting in this section http://mapdownloads.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=5

So, what do I need? - You must have the .net framework version 1.1 or higher installed, a supported game and a supported game browser installed. See http://mapdownloads.co.uk/help for more details on requirements.

Do server admins have to do anything?
Nope! Players just have to download and install MapDownload(er!) and then connect to thier favourite servers as normall.

This is Beta or final ? - Betwen you and Giffe I've been waiting for the dust to settle and the final versions to surface.

Should be in new releases.

giffe beat ya to it. his also has a server browser and a couple other things.

but it's the journey to, not the end result, that rewards your skills. just one more project under your belt.

CustomSpy somehow fails to capture the connections for me, this one works well.

im well aware of that but the idea of MapDownloader is to extend allready existing and popular game browsers.

Sounds awesome! Not too many popular games today, aside from Allied Assault, lack support for active map-downloading right from the server, though.

Aby włączyć debugowanie w trybie JIT (just in time), plik konfiguracyjny dla tej
aplikacji lub komputera (machine.config) musi mieć
ustawioną wartość jitDebugging w sekcji system.windows.forms.
Ponadto aplikacja musi być skompilowana z włączoną opcją
debugowania.

Gdy debugowanie w trybie JIT będzie włączone, każdy nieobsługiwany wyjątek

It's in Polish but quite straightforward.

It says: "System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: the supplied argument is out of supported value range. Parameter: '-1' is not a valid value of 'index'."

There's another thing, if you press Launch game before the proggy checks if there are no maps to download, map downloader closes but game doesn't start.

Why cant it be made to download from the game server data base raver than having to rely on your data base?

Say i want to run a client side mod or custom map on my server that ive made and you dont have it in your data base? "or dose it not download mods?" would be much better if could be setup to a servers data base as well

For the time being use CustomSpy, it has this feature.
