MOHAA Dutch Language To English

Post by 3dart »

Hello.

I own a Dutch version of MOHAA and want to change this into
English.

I have a additional language pack in my main directory:

Pak6Nl.pk3
Pak7Nl.pk3
- MOHAA Localization file:

The way frags are logged in the qconsole.log in MOHAA is different from
the other games. The logging is dependant on the server where you connect
to. The bot can understand only 3 language versions (EN/DE/NL) and ALSO
requires the servers to have "pure" localization files. That means that
any server running a changed (or superseded by other .pk3 files) version
might automatically produce unknown kills for the bot.

The general global/localization.txt file can be found in the main/Pak0.pk3
file.

For example:
The Dutch version of MOHAA is delivered with an extra main/Pak6NL.pk3 which
has an localization.txt file which supersedes the original.

WARNING: DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. IT WILL
OR MIGHT GET YOU KICKED ON PURE SERVERS IF YOU CHANGE IT!
Does this text above which i found on a site mean that when i adjust
this localization.txt file that my interface will become in English?

:?

Yeah kinda, but you dont have to edit the localization.txt in the pak6NL, as there is an original english localization.txt in pak0 (and an updated one in pak6 (english patch)). To let the english one work, you should get rid of the NL one but its better to leave the the paks like how they are. So get the localization.txt out of pak0, make a new folder in main and name it 'global', paste the localization.txt in there and your stuff is in english (not everything, like map names in the loadings screens are still in dutch but that shouldn't be a problem I guess? It can be changed too anyway, or in the game menu everything is still in dutch. Only the text you see in the server like you killed xxx or text in SP)

To make it easy, you can download it here and just put it in your main folder:

EDIT: I dont have the dutch version myself but now Im wondering, if you got a version with a different language, do you still have the original english files in the normal paks? If so, you can just remove the dutch paks and everything is fine? But I think that is not possible and you dont have all the original english files when you bought for example the dutch version.

Thank you with what you wrote.

1.

Did extract the localization.zip in the main directory.
The game menus are in dutch and loadingscreens stay in dutch.
So it worked like a sharm for that part pointing to gameplay objectives
and so on are now in english.

For multiplayer commands stay in dutch though.

I live in the Netherlands and MOHAA Allied Assault and both expansion
packs are only available in dutch.

:(

Dont own a credit card i would buy these games in english in the UK.

I did google for "Pak6Nl.pk3" and "Pak7Nl.pk3".

For the first one "Pak6Nl.pk3" i did get this link:

http://www.gab-clan.org/downloads/rtcw/ ... README.TXT

So i started this topic.

I thought that reading that text in the link i have the original english files
and can bypass the dutch paks completly.
For example:
The Dutch version of MOHAA is delivered with an extra main/Pak6NL.pk3 which
has an localization.txt file which supersedes the original.
So i have removed both dutch paks and start up the game i am getting
missing text in the game menu.

I guess i have to live with the fact that i cant bypass completly.

In a couple of weeks i want to buy me MOHAA Pacific Assault and get
the same problem that it will only is available in dutch.
This is for the Netherlands.

Well anyways thanks for taking your time is much appreciated.

Someone can make u a .pk3 where all the original english files are included which will replace the dutch stuff (menu images and such).

Maybe there already is such a pk3 flying around on the net

You could buy a UK/US online for like $10. You could also try the 'War Chest' that comes with all the expansions. It's an old game, I would expect it to be under $20, but I don't know how money works over there.

If you could figure out which PK3s you need, I wouldn't mind trying to host them online somewhere. You shouldn't need a new set. I know a few of the PK3s are just maps and missions.
