Memorial Day

Post by Tod001 »

Here in the USA, we set this day aside to pay respect to those whom have fallen in service to our country..SALUTE!!!!!

Also to those soul's who are entombed here in VA, whom no family can properly claim. No way to get these guys back to their parents or loved ones.
Their tomb, a simple white-marble structure that was dedicated on Nov.11 1932, rests on a terrace in front of Arlington Memorial Amphitheater.
Inscribed for the rest of us 2 c,
" Here rests in honored glory an American soldier known but to God."

This is the "Tomb of the Unkown Soldier".

Thank you.........

Come now everyone.......
If we(USA!) did not sacrifice our Grandads, our Fathers, and our Sons, to storm "Fortress Europe"( Which was already lost, overrun, taken over....), our whole world would still be living in a new "Dark-age" under the Axis(nazi-evil) powers....
Please do not judge our dead by current ventures.....Back in the day, us Americans believed in God( I still do..) and gave the ultimate sacrifice so others could be free........
Research what the "Shrine?" in Italy for the fallen "Free Polish"...Something like "Us Free Polish soldiers sacrificed our lives here so others may know freedom"<<<<<<<<Check it! Mt.Cassino.

usa did not won the war alone... it was a world war, remember that. But without the help of the US, it would probally be lost. There was lots of resistance in europe, but those nazi's blackmailed so there wasn't much chance. It was really nasty back then, from both sides and also in the pacific. Even years later stupid things happen.

Everything can be done differently... the past is the past and can't be changed. Those who have given there life for there country and other countries earn a lot of respect and should not be forgotten. And even these days people die..... for silly reasons.

Until the end of this world, this bond that you gave to each other, none can take away....
Jesus once said;" there is no greater love than to lay ones life down for another",,,,,,I say right here, right now( where-ever or when-ever ) , that he who sheds his blood with me;/ or for me, he is my brother. No one can take that away.....
You know; " Life is a journey that is Homeward bound". I would also like to remind some that there are alot of Americans who cannot make it home, they have shed blood for fellow brothers in Europe and are still buried there...

I would like to speak of a small town here in Virginia, Bedford is it's name.
During WW2, this whole town was worried about it's "Brothers" in Europe. All young men of military age signed-up for the army to come to Europe. All the football team, 48 out 50 of the senior class, and more.....
Come D-day, 98 men out 112 died within 20 minutes, all from Bedford.

I would like to go on but, this is totally unrehearsed and I am feeling overwhelmed....

* I have researched nothing,, look it up

Very true m8. I think we should all pray for the ones that we..... brothers have lost... almost every and i mean EVERY family in america has lost a loved one due to war wether you knew them or now someone lost someone. I saw a story the other day about tank carrying munition and the tank some how got blown up. Over 7 men dies 15 wounded from all the munition set off. I would like to dedicate this prayer to all military and armed forces of the USA and the world.

Dear God,
This prayer Lord, that i say
Is for our troops who all must fight.
These are the troops that we all love
And so i pray dear Lord above
Please keep them sage while they're away
And bring them home someday.
This prayer is not for ours alone.
But for all military far from home.
I ask you to keep them safe and sound
On their way to where they're bound.
We love them all that are asked to fight
So keep them safe for us tonight.
Lord, Hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect Them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts
They Perform for us in our time of need!

Amen.

All please say this prayer and bless all the soldiers that have died may die and are now serving for us in our wonderful nations army!

Umm, is this a religious place ?
Anyway, don't you kind of condtradict yourself, Tod? I often hear from Americans that we (old) Europeans shud not interfere with their business (e.g. Guantanamo) because you liberated us from the nationalsocialist dictatorship. On the other hand you say it's past, and we shud not judge it by current ventures...

Just as sidenote, the Soviet Union wasn't defeated yet, so it's a bit exxagerated to say that thanks to "the americans" we live in a shiny great democratic place...
btw, what about mt. cassino? what's your point?

now before you start dissing me about my critique, you shud know i really am greatful that americans as well gave their lives to free europe - i also talked quite a lot with veterans (not only for history research but also out of personal interest).

Good morning Ivan(aK47),
I was not trying to get anyone to glorify the USA as much as I was trying to gain attention for our fallen.....
I mentioned the brave Poles in Italy (Mt.Cassino1944) to bring attention to ALL of the fallen....
I said;
Please do not judge our dead by current ventures...
because I did not want disagreement with our(US) current policies to detract attention from our fallen on Memorial Day.

the Soviet Union wasn't defeated yet,
Maybe not all the way but, the "Iron curtain"( Isolated Eastern Europe) has been lifted, our peoples can hear, see and, share news events everyday.
In 40 years of "Cold War", our "fake" "STD"( Star wars), the arms-race and more, combined with Communism to break the USSR, economically and morally until they could not hold their country together.
Please do not get me wrong, for I have about 10 friends who live in Soviet Union( awesome hackers!)

now before you start dissing me about my critique
From what I learned of you, I can not "dis" you at all.
