How do you make a door stay open longer, or shut faster than "stock" ?

Area portals....... go inside of door, and stretch out into the doorframe. Simple. Mine come up with errors.area portal brush doesn't touch two areas. It's too simple....... what might be causing it ?

For the door, just use the value: 'wait' key: '3' = default.

Do u have support beams in the door? Many times ppl make them detail. So continue with stretching till u hit the structural walls. Detailed brushes are just holes. And be sure the width of the area portal is the same as the width of the structural brushes.

area portal must totally seal an area no holes like windows or other doors without area portals in them . You an put area portals into the interior doors as well to help seal the area so a room with a window won't make the area leak . You can even put area portals in windows but then you won't be able to see out of them any more .

Oh btw and be sure all the brushes in a room are on grid, it might happen that a brush would be off grid but most time its nearly invisible. This would also cause holes so the area portals won't work, it happend me once, I was quite sure that everything was sealed, but some vertices were off grid, I didnt noticed that. So if you have everything sealed, and it still doesnt work. Try to snap all brushes to grid.
