Shiny "mirror like" texture.

Ok, this is starting to do my nut in. I'm trying to make a "one way mirrored window" for a map im working on. Like the ones you see in police interveiw rooms on tv. I tryed using a blue glass texture i found on the door2 map, and then place another texture not far behind that with a dark wall texture and then a third brush with just a plain glass texture. Now with the middle brush i textured the wall on one side, and chalked it on the other... there for the middle brush was kinda like the 1 way bit.. however.. because there is glass either side, you can some how see through both ways still! is that understandable? meh!

anyways, let me get to the point.. i thought about using another texture instead, one thats not glass but just realy shiny. that way, using just one brush, i could texture one side with shiny texture, and the other with glass, this would work right? So, now i need a good shiny texture and i just can't be bothered making one myself!

any helpers?

Texturing one brush would work, but if you expect the mirror to be actually reflecting what's happening in the room, forget it (EA broke portal surfaces, which could be used as mirrors, during development).

Also, try the big glass windows in my "test_pointer" tutorial map. They do not act funny when you look at one window through another window.

Yea i did alittle research into it, thats why i ended up asking for just a shiny texture!


And tltrude, i was thinking about that untill i thourght gold would be abit, well, over the top for a window.. but, if theres silver there as good as the gold texture it will be PERFECT. Thanks alot guys... i do wish i wasn't so lazy though!

no, no silver with the gold, shame! On to your glass on pointer map now.

Looks like the windows in test pointer are ok, cheers for that. Still looking for a shiny silver surface tho and i am going to make one myself now.. but i cant find any custom glass/refelective texture tuts!
