Ahh help!

Post by Kiko »

Hey, I have my lighting (in a dark map using the same Worldspawn and Sky texture (I believe I use the same I'm not sure)

Well I add my lighting, but in some parts where it shouldn't its really shadowed making my texture look really shabby.

So basically how do I stop that from happening?

I can't view your pictures, but, Select one of the brushes, ( walls ), and then hit "n" to bring up the entities inspector.

key: ambientlight ..................... hit enter
value: 10 10 10 ...................... hit enter

deselect brush. recompile map. See if that helps any.......

That actually helped me a lot by giving my inner houses a big of light so I dont have to put lights everywhere =)

but it didn't fix my problem about the textures being all shabby.

btw, I ctrl + shift + leftclick to get the one side of the wall, and did that for all of the walls in that general area and selected the texture, so they are all the same texture and the textures are lined up perfectly, they just make it shabby.

Well i see the pictures perfectly. try lowering the light a touch. on the second screen shot. On the first its hard to tell where the light its coming from apart from where i see the lamp.

Edit, i didnt make sense above so basicly..

Move the light away from the walls, they are to close.

Also, the final light compile usually fixes such glitches. Bear in mind it takes ages, though, so don't do it before your map is complete. ;)
