new to mapping, maybe a retarted question?

Post by ernst »

hey everyone, first of all great site!! its all a tad overwhelming at first but im starting to see my way around and everything has been very helpfull! i have all but one question, using radiant to create a map or editing a stock DM map, why is it that other people cannot see the changes i have made?? is there a way of creating/editing stock maps and being able to load them in a server so ppl dont have to download them?? all my attempts so far have failed.

in order for anyone else to see the changes you've made to a default map without downloading anything, you would need to script in the changes. if you search, you will find plenty of articles on the subject.

ps. do not forget to move your entdefs.pk3 from mohaa tools to mohaa/main

cool cool, yeah see i want to try scripting, but wow, i think im lost with that, even after reading the tuts, i still dont know a damn thing lol, so if i understood you correctly, i can make the map in radian or edit the map in radiant, but ill need a script as well?? so pp do not have to download it?

You just had to didnt you . . .

I think going stright into scripting a stock map is like trying to run before you can walk, wait no, infact, before you have grown legs... so good luck on that one.

and to answer his other question....anytime you change the .bsp, someone has to download it. anytime you change any of the textures, someone has to download it. anytime you open mohaa tools, someone has to move the entdefs.pk3 to the mohaa/main folder.

yes phallic snake, i really had to .
