Lightray can export 3ds or obj those should work and to get it back to lightray I use the .mdl plugin that was part of the quake3 gamepack for gmax or a maxsccript to export obj but I use gmax not 3ds max .
This is crazy,,,, You mean to tell me no-one has created models for MOH or COD in 3ds max at all ?
This seems a little too far fetched. Al i want to do is be able to export my model to work in the game. Possibly import one too for a screen shot, So i can remodel a weapon too.
Seems Light ray has a problem exporting a file to 3ds.

Yes you can export a max model to mohaa via lightray, skl_2_skX or possibly milkshape... the other way around I'm not sure as I don't have max installed atm... if I remember correctly max wouldn't import the 3ds made by lightray
Here is the bar in Gmax . Model imported into lightray3D then exported first as a 3ds then as a obj . The 3ds model was imported into gmax from the import menu the obj model was imported via a maxscript that imports obj files . The 3ds method seems to work better as it imported it as 3 meshes where as the obj was one mesh other than that identical . UVmapping was preserved .
