Free-for-All server Start Point Problem

Post by Phantomwarrior »

:( We have built a map and it works very well in almost every aspect except that when we run it on a server for Free-For-All, all of the players spawn at the start entity. I play Free-For-All servers quite often and none of them have this problem. Team-Death-Match starts players at the Multi-Player Spawn Points, but Free-For-All clusters all the spawns at the Starting Entity. How do we fix this so that Free-For-All spawns at the other Spawn Points on the Map?

Do you have deathmatch spawnpoints in your map? Those are needed for spawning players in free-for-all.

Deathmatch Spawnpoints?

Post by Phantomwarrior »

I didn't know that there were deathmatch designated spawnpoints. Our map had a Start Spawnpoint, 16 Allied Spawnpoints, and 16 Axis Spawnpoints. If there is such a thing as Deathmatch Spawnpoints, where do we find them and do we have to create a separate map with the deathmatch spawnpoints. As I said earlier, the Team Death Match works fine with the 33 spawnpoints that are already in the map. If there are deathmatch spawnpoints that are separate from Start, Allies, and Axis Spawnpoints where do we find them and can I use Deathmatch Spawnpoints in the same map so that it will run on TDM or DM both???

The spawns are in the same place as info player....... info player start....info player dm...... info player allied or axis.

And yes to the second question. You can start the game as either team or ffa.

ffa

You need more spawn locations for ffa because you don't want any of the players (any of the 32) spawning next to each other -- as they do in team match/objective. The hard part is finding 32 places where no other deathmatch spawn point can be seen. You might even need some spawned walls (boxes) to block the player's views -- with that many spawn points.

Deathmatch Spawnpoint Problem Solved!

Post by Phantomwarrior »

 Thanks guys for the advice. I don?t know why, but my version of radiant only has start, allied, and axis in the info select window. But I was able to solve the problem by selecting axis and allied spawn points and in the entity window change the Value from info_player_allied (or axis) to info_player_deathmatch.

Code Folder

Post by tltrude »

Unzip and add this code folder to main.

The .ccp files can be opened with Notepad, if you want to see how they are made. The info_player_deathmatch one is inside the PlayerStart.ccp file.
