Duplicate Plane removal

Post by Waylander76 »

Hi all

When I compile my map I get two main errors...the first is this...

Code: Select all

Entity 1257, Brush 0: duplicate plane
Entity 1257, Brush 1: duplicate plane
Entity 1257, Brush 8: duplicate plane
Entity 1257, Brush 9: duplicate plane
Entity 1257, Brush 10: duplicate plane
Entity 1257, Brush 11: duplicate plane
and the second is this....

Code: Select all

WARNING: node without a volume
node has 0 tiny portals
node reference point 0.00 0.00 0.00
WARNING: node without a volume
node has 0 tiny portals
node reference point 0.00 0.00 0.00
Obviously I want to fix this and have tried the plugins to remove the
duplicate planes but it doesn't remove anything..it just says '0 planes removed'

Is this error referring to entity number 1257 itself, brush x
or brush x that forms part of entity 1257?
What do I have to delete to get rid of it?

As for the node without a volume I've searched on the forum and
tried the solutions but I can't seem to find it in Radiant to remove it.
I've selected the area and tried 'select inside', select touching and select complete tall,
but nothing seems to be highlighted for me to delete.
I did try to even though I could see nothing selected but the prob is still there.

Could I get rid of the problem by editing the map file in notepad?
If so what would I be looking for to delete??

Thanks for any pointers

You can find Entity 1257 under Edit > Find Entity/Brush.

You can use the menu Edit->Find entity/brush and enter the entity number and brush numbers.

No worry, m8, these are not errors, just information messages. All this tells is that the compiler is doing its job - optimizing the map (i.e. removing unseen/unnecessary faces). ;)

thanks guys....
So I don't have to worry about the 'node without a volume' error either?

Read through this. Both your errors are here, as well as a way to fix them.
