BigSpeed Voice Chat SDK

Post by tltrude »

I found this while searching for a alternative to the free "Roger Wilco" voice chat client.

BigSpeed Voice Chat SDK

It free, for non-commercial use, and comes with "demo" client and server applications. I haven't tried to talk to a friend with it yet, so I don't know if it will connect two people -- without a third computer as the server. This free version only allows 5 clients.

If anyone is interested in providing a server for it, or making new applications for it in Visual Basic 2005 or Delphi 7, please let me know!

Also, if anyone knows of a cool "free" voice chat program for gaming, please post a link!

Thanks,
Tom Trude,

Philip II of Macedon sent a message to Sparta:
"If I win this war, you will be slaves forever."
The Spartan ephors sent back a one word reply: "If".

Ventrilo is by far the best voice solution, smallest package and all the features you need.

Xfire's voice is not it's big selling point, Xfire's used to keep track of games, files, friends, stuff like that. It's better than PlayLinc and doesn't lag you. good to get even without the voice.

Well, I have downloaded/installed both and will give Xfire a try with my friend. But, Ventrilo wont work without a server to log onto, right? I'm to poor to rent one for just two guys that like to play COH Coop.

lizardkid - When is your avatar dude going to pop that zit? -- lol!

i had to downsize the picture, but he's putting in a contact so his red glowy eyes dont show. Doesn't translate well :P

Besides Xfire and some IM's i'm not totally sure there's anything else that provides client-to-client voice. But if that's what you're looking for then Xfire is probably the way to go.

Well you can always you Teamspeak. You can easily run your own server on your pc that you and a friend can connect to. Teamspeak's voice codecs are getting better so the quality isn't horrible anymore.
