No Clip / Secret Walls / Walking through brushes

Post by Rich Tea Biscuit »

Hello!

Basically, I'm making my first map (dont bother n00b bashing, i've heard em all  ) and Im driving myself up the wall trying to create a wall brush so that it displays the texture, but allows the player to walk through it, without having to use the 'noclip' command in the console.

According to some friends, I need to tick both 'fog' and 'nonsolid' in surface properties with the brush selected, but once I've compiled this, it does sod all.. Especially annoying since it works in their maps. :?: :!:

Suggestions or Alternatives welcomed.

RTB
P.S - And no, I wouldnt just prefer a sliding door.

Try using "nodraw" texture on the sides of the brush that no one will see. Then do the surface inspector changes only on the faces that show -- one face at a time.

or make your wall a func_door that slides open either up/down or left/right . Or make the wall a non solid script object by checking the not solid spqawnflag .

Well Well Well Now.

Tom's Suggestion didnt work :( - which is strange, since that seemed the most logical to me.. Maybe I just went wrong somewhere along the lines..
(By the way, love that door2 map you had done)

JV_Map - uughh.. effort... That sounded about right.. but I hate doing custom thingymabobness because im lazy so early in the morning.. your's was definetely the back up plan..

BdBodger - Hit the nail on the head mate non solid object script - it did the job, much appreciated

And since you've all replied so quickly, here's your free cookie:
