IP Address

Post by Faceball »

What is an easy way to find my TRUE ip address to host my own games for testing?

I have two IP's that show in console when i access MOH. Niether work

I have also tried to do an IP search through different websites and the 3 i went to gave me different IP #'s....none worked.

All that i have gottn my friends to try don't work.

We have also tried to host a game through gamespy but it never shows up. Does this method take time to update before my selected game will show up?

Try typing 'ipconfig' in a cmd box.

ipconfig may not work for you. What operating system are you using?

You need WNTIPCFG.EXE instead of ipconfig for XP. You can download it from Microsoft.

To be able to host a game you need a "unique" IP address. Most Ineternet Service Providers use DHCP assigned IP addresses within a lokal area network. The "traffic" is then routed through a server/router/firewall out to the Internet. This makes your IP address unique only for the LAN and not accessible by other users from the Internet. That means you can't host games.

If you belive you have a public/real IP address it will probably be entered in your network settings. How to find this under XP i wouldn't know.

ipconfig works on XP but more then likely a firewall issue.

check your firewall and see if ports 12201 to 6 are blocked
