Another Door/Elevator Related Problem - Cross Connecting!

Post by *GCC*Nigel »

I'm trying to make a simple door out of brushes and then form them all into a door, but I can't make a decent Elevator without getting a Cross Connection Door message (which I still don't fully understand, but I believe it means I have too many doors stacked up?) and my map doesn't run. Is there a work around?

cross connected

Cross connected means there is somthing wrong with the angles set for doors that touch. Setting the spawnflag for "doors don't link" may fix it, but the two doors will no longer act as one double door.

I just made a dual door setup that opens like an elevator door should. No erors. Here goes.

Use "trigger" for your origin. Put it inside the wall, ( NOT over the door
itself ), above the height of the door you want to open. and either to the right or left of the actual door.

Make it the same width as your door. 72 units or whatever. You can make it less for the doors to stay out of the walls a little.

select your door and the trigger, hit "n" and in the key box type door/in the value box type 1 ... hit enter.

while it is selected type key/angle value/180 ... hit enter.

For the second door type door/2... and ...value/360

the 360 and 180 might have to be switched. It didn't work right the first time I tried it, so I switched the numbers.

You may have to change the angle as to the way your map is laid out. Whatever angle you try, the other has to be the oppossite. let us know if it works for you.

If I could post my little map I would. If you want it sent, I can email it if you want.
