Map "UB"

Post by Condor »

Uhm, a lot of water flowed down the rivers since I have learned "to brag" in school..

This is a try for a technical realisation of a controllable subway train (Yes, I love subways :D )

I planed and built already 1 tunnel with a controllable subway train (a huge circle over the whole map) with 4 stations at all N,W, S and E circle points.
The subway train has a more or less realistic acceleration (3 levels of acc.) and a simple brake. Before you can accelerate by hiting a triggeruse, you have to start the motor. You can open/close the doors on the left/right side of the train from the driving cab, or by opening each door as a passenger.
There are at the moment two more tunnels, one for a scriptcontrolled drivethrough-subway train and one for a scriptcontrolled train, which commutes between two stations.

My biggest problems at the moment is the playing balance (its rather huge), and the performance.

I also will have to create own advertising banners, which are independent from real products, for the stations.

I might release it sometime, when it's done ;)

Edit: The name "UB" will be changed sometime, its derived from german "U-Bahn", because I already have loads of "ubahn.*" etc. scripts, sounds and maps in my folders :D

:)
I guess, the dark look you mean comes especially from the farplane (2000 and a black fog). I tested a dozen settings, and I think, the tunnel atmosphere gets perfect with the black fog.

You know I love subways, so I am working on a new subway project :D
You maybe know Train to hell, and I want to create two subwaytrains driving through an endless tunnel. The tunnel consists out of 10 - 15 different modules, which randomly move from the one end of the map to the other around the train so you get the feeling of beeing in a real subway. If there are no columns or walls between the two trains, you can jump from one to the other, so there is more ground where players can fight.

They all look just AMAZING. I'm shocked (in a good way) at all those details...

Keep it up! :D
I'll stop changing my name.

Thank you :)

I will, when it's done, release all the textures I made for the NY train, the station etc. for any use (commercial or private), they are all 100% my work, taking the pictures, rendering a door with a 3D Modeller etc. Remember that they are not final yet.

That's the lighting I want to use for the tunnels with the metal wall:

For the other tunnels I will use the lighting of the old project in this thread (scroll up)

That looks absolutely ace! :) Good idea with prefabbing the tunnel segments, too. Can't wait to play it!
