Oh no! Not another compiling error!

Post by Rich Tea Biscuit »

Im making my map, frequently testing it in Mbuilder, and I get this nice little error:

Code: Select all

R_Drawstring: no 0xa6-Character in font!
R_Drawstring: no 0x02-Character in font!
R_Drawstring: no 0x98-Character in font!
R_Drawstring: no 0xa7-Character in font!
R_Drawstring: no 0xb0-Character in font!
R_Drawstring: no 0x08-Character in font!
To my knowledge, I havent asked mohaa to display any text, so fonts (execept the initial stuff) shouldnt be needed.. Its not a scripting error, because im still in the mohrad development stage, therefore my script being non existent. Im assuming a detail has been made which mohradiant coded using a character that *shock* wasnt found in its main font, but I cant think where I would have done that.. I can send the .map and .bsp files to those who feel charitable enough to have a looky??

Its not my pc, as i've tried it on my laptop as well, with the same error message. :(

pk3

Post by tltrude »

Could it be from another mod pk3 you have in main?

It could also be in a key/value of an entity. That would include "Worldspawn". God knows its easy to add things to worldspawn by mistake.

I doubt its another pk3, as I hadnt added any new ones between the time this map compiled properly, and then got the error messages.

I have a nasty feeling its a worldspawn detail. Ack. Is there a way to search for abnormal worldspawn value, or do I have to go through it by hand?

That doesnt matter as such, i had a few custom pk3's in my main and it never did anything to compiling for awhile then one day it just did. I removed them and t was fine.

Im still kind of new at this.. I'd rather know what a problem is and solve it, than bypass it completely nonethewiser. I would rather carry on, instead of reverting, but I really cant be arsed to sift through all my brushes for one litttle mistake :D

Worldspawn

Post by tltrude »

You can open the .map file with a text editor like Notpad or Wordpad. All the Worldspawn stuff will be at the top of the page. All the entities will be towards the bottom of the page. All the brushes are in the middle. If you're careful about the brackets, you can edit the text and repair/change your map -- always make a backup first.

"// entity 1" - will be the last entity you added in Radient. So, even if you delete an entity, the numbers will fix themselves the next time you load/save the map in Radient.

Once, I had a problem that crashed my map in radient. I fixed it by deleting groups of entities in Notepad and narrowed it down to one trigger entity -- I had added quotes to a message value.

Hope that helps!

That error message has absolutely nothing to do with your map... there's an UI file attempting to write a character that is not in the font.. perhaps a mod in a different language? It might even happen on stock mohaa, not sure. In any case, it's nothing to worry about!
