but isnt the WHOLE election idea based on having political parties and funneling mass amounts of dollars into campaign ads instead of things like welfare to get elected and get your party members put int o high places because they madde you promise that to them if you got elected... the list just can go on
EDIT: and when i said you were polish i wasnt pointing that out just to point it out, i was responding to the american idiot song... youre not american, youre polish, tats why you were reminded of it...

I agree, and I also think we should get rid of this stupid electoral vote crap. The populas vote should decide the elections.lizardkid wrote:i think we need to banish the houses/parties ideal. that's just.. stupid to me. it'd make things a lot less biased.

so? who cares about states. the only bit that matters is there is xxx number of Americans voting, the populace, not percentage of states, would decide. the idea was a bad one, the original voting ideal was that the AMOUNT as in number of actual invididuals would decide, not percentage. that weould mean low-population states wouldn't have the swing as big ones, but they're just states. which is how i htink it needs to go.
parties is one of the worst ideas visited to man. why split Americans when we're not supposed to be divided by the government? what do parties achieve? besides prejudice?

That's not what we mean. Right now certain states (ei california, florida) and others have a huge say in who's elected, but it is the electoral vote that does it. The electoral college is comprised of politicians, which means even if the majority of the populace in there respective state disagrees with them, they can still cast there vote against the populace. This is disgusting to me, cause politicians are scum, and only look out for there own interests. With the electoral vote, the candidates only worry about winning those "important" states, so the little states (population wise) are in the same boat right now anyway. Personally, I dont trust ANYONE to cast a vote for me. And I totaly agree with the party crap, there should be no party difference. I watch any polical show on the news networks, and all they do is argue and bash each other, no matter the topic. This is the same as racial, sexual, and background discrimination. Why have a party system in place, if they never agree on anything? (freakin stupid)Rookie One wrote:What's the difference between people and population?
