Woot it works!

ty guys.

Now, for my next trick.. adding in boxes and such. This'll take quite a bit more work, I imagine. What is the best way of going about doing this?

Additionally, Are there any effects I can give to my orbs to make them stand out more? different colors.. glowing.. flashing.. ect?

How about something to make the orb disappear for 10 seconds after someone stepped into it- to restrict followers?

Finally, is there any way I can create an yellow message on the left side of the screen everytime someone hits an orb?

Use this for adding boxes! Make a call thread above level waittill spawn like -

thread addstuff

then put this under end of main and put what ever you add in it -

Addstuff:
local.static = spawn script_model
local.static model "static/indycrate.tik"
local.static.origin = ( x y z )
local.static.angles = (0 0 0)
local.static solid

Code: Select all

end

For your message - put this in your teleport thread

iprintlnbold_noloc " Teleporting."

you can also put this at the end of your teleport to block next player. it wont remove the orb thats more complicated.

wait 10

you can remove the orb or make it flash, its more complicated though.
you can hide and show in a loop:)

If you mean large boxes, you'll need to make them in Radiant, save as static model, distribute to everyone via a pk3 and spawn it in... unless stacking those isn't a problem.

It's really not worth a distribution :(

to make that orb flash you may need to assign a targetname? you should start a new subject thread for this.

also do a search for spawning items - there is a ton of stuff on this.

oops- unforseen problem. We're currently running mefy's freeze-tag mod on this server- and when I upload the file, it drops to round base instead of FT. Causing major problems.

Ideas and thoughts on how to get around this?

If mefy's FT mod is a modification on mohdm3.scr then they will not run together. you would have to incorporate your modifications into the mefy script.

What are the major problems? is it running your mod or mefy's or is a conflict crashing the script ?

The problem is, specifically, that it won't run Mefy's script. The map runs, server runs, it just ignores the freezetag part and does round base.

So, if I add this to Mefy's freeze tag script, where would it go?

well, if there is an mohdm3.scr in the mefy pk3 then i would say add your stuff to it and pack it in your own pk3.

specifically - thread your teles and addstuff above level waittill spawn and put them at the bottom, but hard to say without seeing it.
