Sorry I just notice that the top of the compiler says MOHAA builder do I need to get a specail one to work with SH SDK MOHrad. :?

First of all thats the compiler I use...no prob
On the game directory thing......don't type stuff in.........go to the "change" button, search til you see ......mohaa..........in windows explorer and hit enter
In the compile directory hit search button, go to ( mine is mohaa tools )
In the map source directory I noticed that maps starts with a cap. Don't know if that would do anything to hurt or not,
but hit the search button and go to mohaa-mainta-maps-------dm-----------folder, and then hit enter, you forgot dm folder.

make bsp option- fast
make vis option- fast
make light option- fast
this will speed up compile time
til map is finished and you are ready for final compile
Go to other options and deselect everything except copy bsp to................

I did use the change buttom for the location of those files. My MOH file is saved right off c:. Not in the normal c:\program files\ea games\mohaa file. I have my old MOHAA MOHrad in MOHtools. But the Spearhead SDK with MOHrad is in the c:\moh\sdk. So your saying it should point to the old MOHrad exe. Not the new. :?

And I have a dm folder but I was saving that for the final product I was just saving the files in Maps for the time being is that a problem. Do I need to change it.


I changed all of the stuff and still got the same errors. Should I try and reinstall all that software.

One more thing can you tell what this error is

LoadPortals: couldn't read C:\MOH\mainta\maps\test.prt

what is a .prt file I have never seen it create this why is it looking for it.

I also just noticed that when I was in the other options for the compiler it said commandlist for MOHAA. My questions is if i am building a map for spearhead, with spearhead textures and stuff will this load up right in MOHAA

I ...........THINK.....that error has something to do with vis, but I've seen your map and its small, so I'm not sure.
Not all textures will be carried over to AA. But, I have yet to find an AA maps' textures not work in SH.
If you want, you can send me your map file, I'll look at it and see if I can compile it............... let me know.....
Something still is not right with your setup though

.prt is portals, it is a vis error. i think it basically means you dont have a sealed map (sections where things leak into the void cause vis errors and the MOH compiler doesnt like that) so make a skybox.

Thanks for all of your help I am going to uninstall and reinstall my stuff then I will see if that changes anything first if not I will email you my map to look at.

When you use MOHrad. Do you use the MOHAA one or the Spearhead SDK one. That might be part of my problem. Just like you said my map is small because I just started and wanted to make sure it was going to work.

I use the mohaa one, but I send my maps to my mainta/maps/dm folder when compiled. Wait 1........ I use the one called MOHAA tools, don't know if that the first one or not, but it doesn't sit in the mainta folder like the SH sdk, it sits by itself in windows explorer, but it sets up like the SH sdk. I guess it wouldn't matter.
The one for AA sucks.

One more question I was reading in one of the tutorial that you should not over walls is this true or is that my problem.

Also do I even need spearhead SDK to make a map that will work on spearhead and breakthought.

Okay I reinstalled everthing including MOHAA and MOHSH, then MOHAA modrad sdk, and MOHSH Mohrad sdk, Mbuilder.

Your compile directory is wrong........has to point to the tool you are using
In the sdk there should be a file named tools, thats where it should be pointing
use the change buttons, stop typing stuff
don't forget to setup bsp,vis,and light
Also you will be looking in AA for your maps

I am not typing in the entries I don;t where you got this from, I have used change evertime, so please stop saying that. I changed it but it still doesn't fix the problem of it not find a dir that is there.

there is another error at the top that says backwards tree error what is that .

See where it says C\MOHAA, and compile directory and, map source directoRy..........mine all start with C:\PROGRAM~...............ETC, ETC
YOU ARE NOT DOING SOMETHING RIGHT
I can't offer any more assistance as my abilities are limited

I guess the third time is the carm I reinstall everything and it work this time.

I made my basic map again and I am having a problem with some of the wall graphics.

Do all of the graphics have to come from one directory or can I use multi dirs.
