Vista is supposed to do a lot of things... but we shall see when it's released.
apparently, to avoid the patchhappy XP problems again, they're contracting the teams from DEFCON in vegas, who have hacker competitions regularly, to test their security and make recommendations. that'll be a smart move.
could be rumor though, i didnt hear it off the official site.

well, if it was true, i dont think they would anounce that yet because its such an important thing they wouldnt want to say it now and ppl forget by the time vista is out. they'll anouce things like that when the adverts start and the marketing schemes etc. I know of sumone who claims to have a leeked beta verson, now unless hes completely bullshitin me, which i dout, he says its lookin good on layout and runs smoothly. I have high hopes.

From my experience of working on macs and pc's, macs are sooo slow, I had a ?5000 mac at work as well as a ?1200 hewlett packard pc thing.
The pc drove me crazy wasnt half as fast as this pc I have at home which I built for mucho less than ?1200.
Then I would have to work on the mac sometimes and it made me swear all day, f*ckin hurry up, soooo slow and sooooooo expensive.
The only reason to have a mac is to imagine yourself slightly cooler than everyone else though in reality you paid too much for the thing and it does not work as well as it should. I can honestly say there is not a single thing about the mac interface that I find preferable to windows either.
I know the new macs can run windows now, would be interesting to see how both OS's hold up on the same machine, who wants to bet me that windows is mucho quicker??

se, thats another thing i dont understand, why would ppl buy a mac just to run windows on it anyways? its stupid.. ppl get a mac cos they look good and think their different by having one... why not custom build a computer and have a tower looking great rather then all shoved into one screen thingy and not being able to by parts for easly?

Jack ruby the reason why your mac was probably slow was because you either didn't know how to work it or you put to much stuff on there. Macs are good computers. They get better and better as we speak. It will take time for people to realize that. You will see maybe in about 5 or 6years or so, Macs will be selling way more then Pcs. Thats a promise. Don't denie macs but don't denie Pcs either.

Mac's came first and PC's built off and improved their core immeasurably, Mac's had a head start and money to begin and PC STILL whomped them. Pentium and Sempron cores have done things Macs couldn't hope to do with their traditional ones, macs aren't even using their old cores anymore, but Pentium 4s!
no my friend, PC is the better, Mac will just dissolve into a flashy colorful copy; and eventually disappear; unless they can make something significantly better and UPGRADE IT, that's Apple's weakspot, they make something fantabulous and then forget about it and everyone else makes a better one.
even iPod isn't as good as Sony's player (starts with a C, crescent?), and PSP can play at the same bitrate as well as play games movies and store files...
i just don't see an upside to any Apply product; there's better and more versatile products for everything they have.

As for the PCs, the main advatage is the open architecture. The key designs are not patented and specifications are public, which means anyone can design and manufacture their own PC-standard-compliant hardware. Apple defends and protects their hardware and designs as fiercely as micro$oft does with their software.
