Thanks for that, it's so nice to know that there are people out there who have a lot more sense than many of the corporate game developers and who don't mind ignorant souls such as myself putting their two pence worth into the pot.

And seeing that you folks are so open minded, would you mind so much if I posted this link for you to peruse at your leisure.

http://www.fpsadmin.com/index.php?page=devguide

It's mainly about the Server side of the game and one of their ideas is to have "Dedicated server files" which I personally think would be a great idea, because as I mentioned, I am going to try and host my own game server and dedicated server files would be a great help to a great many of us wanting to do this.

Much of the infomation on this page seems to be common sense when you think about it, but because we are all human and because I assume you guys might have somewhat limited resources and time to do all the things you want, there might be one, or two important features that might be overlooked, so please do have a good read of this page, because this person seems to know what he is talking about and I am sure OpenMOHAA and the OpenMOHAA would greatly benefit if some of these features were incorporated into your game.

I personally like the line:
Please do not use this page, instead of asking your respected communities what they want. Use this page as a starting point to give them some truly groundbreaking features above and beyond what is listed here
Whilst I know that creating all those special features will take a while longer, it would be really great to see a game that is being developed with the game playing community in mind and that even with limited resources, outshines many of the commercial releases. I really do think that asking the MOHAA community for their suggestions and help with this project, could truly make OpenMOHAA stand head and shoulders above the rest, because MOHAA itself has been running for about seven years now (and not many other games survive that long online) and with the players and clans help, I think OpenMOHAA could run for double, or treble that time, simply because it's such a great game. I for one, would be willing to wait a year, or two for those extra features to be included and I am sure many other people would feel the same too.

Apologies if its one of you folks (who runs that site), but I am sure you won't mind some more advice (if the site is nothing to do with you).

BTW

Is there going to be a manual for OpenMOHAA? If so, I would be glad to help. I can create those pesky little chm files for windows and also PDF's for other O/S's.

I think it would be great to have a server guide to help people who want to host their own OpenMOHAA server and it would also be in keeping with the Open Source philosophy.

I am currently in the process of creating my own help files to help those users who have problems with lag, configuring their graphics cards for optimum performance, asking their ISP's to switch their broadband service to FastPath and so on and would be glad to contribute these guides (when finished) to the OpenMOHAA project's UserGuide.

Thanks for your interest. :) We'll think about documentation later on, though, when we have something working. :?

As for the server features - 99% of those mentioned in the article are already in. :) Most of them were always there ever since Quake III (they're not in MoHAA because Ritual and 2015 broke them while they were working on FAKK2 and MoHAA), but ioquake3 (the Q3 engine variant OpenMoHAA is based on) derives straight from Q3, so all those features are present, along with some new ones (IPv6 support, off-server HTTP pak downloads etc.).
