No, check again, it does not work like that. And it never (<- look at it!) will.
bind a "thread mythread" definately does not work.
bind a "exec myscript.scr" definately does not work.
bind a "almost_any_other_scripting_command_in_the_book" definately does not work.
Why won't it work? Well simple, because there are only a handful of commands which do work in the console. Yes, exec is one of them but if you're execing a script then you'll get an incredibly long list in your console which represent all the commands in your script which don't work in the console.
And if you think the thread command will work? Then think again, because backing up the above reason, there's another reason. Thread finds & executes a scriptthread in the current script. What's the problem here? Your thread doesn't exist in the cfg file.
I see my efforts and help are not appreciated nor gratified at all.

mwahha im going to add fuel to the fire! for fun.
nah it shouldnt and doesnt work.
However. Local....You have test and debug scripting cmds.
also you have the command "script" ....This should only work with cheats enabled on single player and SHOULD allow you to perform scripting cmds via console. However alot of it seemed broken when i used it.
bind k script exec lol.scr
should MAYBE work in gametype 0, cheats 1.

think what the hell you want..cheats 0 (but works) (exec scr from cfg)
that's enough for me..I told ya..it's working and if you don't like that say what the ***** you want...I won't replay again because this topic is gonna be out of advices.. sorry for bad english..lol I'm still working on it!

I think your understanding of the english language is good enough because you're already using swearwords.
But you could impress us all, but especially me, by showing that it works and how you got it to work. Including the results of course. By means of a video or screenshots.
And I'd also like to see the console's version of this miracle too.
Sounds good?

it's not a miracle..it's just a scr where are set the lists of action (cmd to be more exaustive) that is run by a cfg executed if i bind a key..
man...why you're sooo surprised of that...however I think it's normal that it works..if you guys don't think the same...well I don't like to be considered as a "punk" for this...so I won't ask for any help or advice again..

Well then just show me how you did it and also show what the results are.
I followed your wordly instructions and so far I haven't managed to accomplish what you say you accomplished. Seeing is much better than reading!
So I just ask you to share your secret!

omg..
well..
open autoexec.cfg
go to the section // execute custom binds and commands
then write down exec RSZ.cfg
save it
open notepad and write that:
bind o "exec RSZ.scr"
save the file as RSZ.cfg
then..open notepad again:
insert the command...for exemple kill or if all info for rcon(I never tryed this one)
save the file as RSZ.scr
then put everiting in a pk3 file
save it as .. .. as you want.. I saved it as zzzzzzz-RSZ.pk3
put it in mainta
start a map and press "o"....that's all..
It's the same as you write in autoexec.cfg this line:
bind o "kill"
I won't make a video as you say becouse this is a really easy stuff and it's just time wasted in my opinion...

LMAOMG, well of course that works, kill is a console command!!
You said you could execute real .scr scripts like this;
Code: Select all
if (local.bla == local.blah)
{
local.ladida kill
}
println "lol"
I was under the impression you wanted to execute threads&script so I thought you did using binds (which is impossible).
SilentAngel wrote:I have to insert a new keyboard 's key to active a thread when pressed...
Code: Select all
someting like that:
if (O){
thread thread1
}
if (L){
thread thread2
}
in this case I've used keys O and L for an exemple..but I bunno what to put in ()....I had a look at all classies list but most of them are unknown to me..I'm still a newbie...lol
advices??

Why didn't you tell me you wanted to bind simple console commands? That's as easy as pie.
Be as clear as possible when you're asking things and also read very very closely what we write!!! Then this dumb misunderstanding could be avoided.

someting like that:

thread thread1
}
if (L){
thread thread2

I used this to let you underteand that I what to do something when a key is pressed..also because I would do it by .scr files but when I founded bind o "command"...well that was moooore short to do..do you see what I mean?
however of course console cannot run scripting lenguage..(it's a sort of command prompt of windows..where you can use commands only (even if i think that if statements can be used in console too...but never tryed))!

Well now apparently you realize it but when I and elg spent 3 posts making it clear to you that running scripts from binds is impossible, then you didn't seem to realize any of this? Nor respond to anything we said. Did you even read the posts?? If you had read my first reaction then it would have been extremely clear to you that I misunderstood you.
And no the console is most definately NOT like MS-DOS. Because MS-DOS can execute programs and codes (ranging from C to C++ and even java) as well as many commands! (Yes, command prompt = MS-DOS)
You don't read my posts, you ignore the help I offer you. Complete disrespect! And you're suprised this topic turned out the way it did?
But I don't mind healthy discussions. If you ask something again, I will help you. I just hope you'll try any help I offer or at least read all of my posts entirely.

1) I was talking about the fact that both of yjem run with commands and no programming lenguage..(I studied C and dos for the school and I'm sure of that!)
2) The only thing I asked is to know how to make the game know the bind of a certain key to exec what I want..
3) remember the fact that I suck in scripting and I but I want to know what I'm doing..and when I know that I hate peopple that say " you're wrong!!!"
4) yes maybe I 've made some mistake undersanding what you wrote in the posts but you did it too..
5) the fact that I didn't say what I was exec in my .scr file was because there's no need for you to know that..because if I say that it worked it worked..and you didn't belive me..so next time before say that what i'm saying is impossible ask for more information on what i'm doing or do not say anything.
I don't what to have an argument..so let the problem pass away or please do not replay..
however thatnks for the info about cvars..

Well there's a small yet important "nuance" or "detail" about the script you say you were executing; whether it contained scripting commands or console commands. Which was what this whole discussion was about, right?

man you're right becouse I didn't said what I was executing, however the big problem is the fact that I posted my question in this this topic so it was not clear for you what I was tring to do..I should have started another topic...
however, when you said that your advices were not considered you were wrong, becouse I cosidered them but I asked for information on cvars and the script code you show me work..even if I founded another way more short to do what I needed to do.
I'm sorry if I haven't replayed to your message correctly but as I told you I have some english problems and I'm not sure to have understeand well what you said..
