From the Health Canada Website:

As of March 28, 2003, Health Canada has received reports of thirty-seven (37) individuals who have become ill with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in Ontario and British Columbia. There have been three deaths in Canada. All Canadian cases have occurred in persons who have traveled to Asia or had contact with SARS cases in the household or in a health-care setting. The information contained in this update is based on the best available information Health Canada has at this time.

The details of the cases to date are as follows:

Ontario: 35 total cases. To date, all cases have occurred in close family contacts of travelers returning from Hong Kong or in heath care workers who have cared for these cases.
British Columbia: one person has been hospitalized with SARS after returning from travel in southeast Asia.
Manitoba: one person has been hospitalized with SARS after returning from travel in southeast Asia.
At this time, the cause of SARS remains unknown, however national and international laboratory testing and collaboration is ongoing. Here are the most recent developments:

Due to the mounting concern about transmission of the SARS agent in non-hospital and community settings in the City of Hanoi, Vietnam; the People's Republic of China including the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; and Singapore, Health Canada recommends that persons planning to travel to these areas should defer all travel until further notice. Health Canada also recommends alternate routing be considered, when possible, if a traveller is transiting through the People's Republic of China including the Hong Kong Special Administrative; City of Hanoi, Vietnam; or Singapore. Health Canada is aware that health authorities in these affected areas are making concerted efforts to contain the spread of SARS in their populations. Given the uncertainties of the current situation, Health Canada believes it is prudent to await the outcome of national and international control measures before undertaking travel to these destinations.

I'm freaked out guys.

17 million humans have died of Aids in Africa to date. I find the loss of a few westerners to pale in comparison.

No disrespect to the people that are suffering from SARS or those unfortunates that have lost there lifes to it is intended. Just pointing out that there is worse things to freak out about.

I didn't think you where boasting, nor was I unfortunately. Just pointing out another serious disease whose ramifications seldom get noticed these days. 17 million, that's twice the population in little old Sweden. The number is staggering and I don't think there is anything that has killed more people, ever.

My earlier post was not directed at you in any way or form, and I apologise if I unintentionally offended you.

It's funny, when your a kid you want to be an adult so u can be out of school. Then when your an adult you wish you could be a kid again.

lol  I know that feeling. When you're a kid, everybody....you know what i mean. Just cause you're a kid, they hardly believe what you say, cause "he's just a kid".

When you're an adult, you wish you were young "Ah, the good old days when i....."
