Any info what the Q3 engine costs? With still so many companies developping their own (worse) engine, you might have to pay a lot!?
BTW, if you're in need of another one for mapping / texturing, I'd like this D&D theme

as long as it's not WWII again (yaaaaawn), I'm in the boat (if there'S a place for me).
And I could do things that will come in the end like graphics, manuals and of course a German translation of what I can understand
What about this Q3 engine's price?

it's opensource... won't cost a penny

,
can't say fairer than that,
obviously we won't b (well we might never thought of hitting the market in that scale, but) publishing our own manuals, we'll sell the idea to a company and split the profits evenly...
although none of us really know each other, it's gonna sound strange saying do loads of work for me then i'll pay you all afterwards
the level of trust we will all need will be immense, and still after all this work we may have nothing at all to show for it, except a bloody good game we can all enjoy!!!
i must find that site for the freebees
lmao, nice spam chart there

did you win anything???

are you sure? well, you might be able to d/l it, an use it but I don'T think, you can sell a game with this engine without paying ID some bucks!? If we'll sell it to a company without ID's licence, they would have to pay for it, but I'm rather sure, that producing a game with Q3 engine will cost!
Once again: Why should ANY company develop another engine (which is extremly time and money consuming), if this one was free????

a good question...
the only thing that will need 2 b paid 4 iwll b the licensing, that's what it says on their site i looked at (if i could find it again aarrgghh!!!)
maybe they do free licensing if you have a variant of the product already made to meet consumer demand...
i'll have 2 leave it til 2moro now

work in the morning

ID Software wrote:...it?s not for everyone. It takes a technically savvy team to use, and it?s not priced for a "me too" title. For a single title license, we charge a $250,000 guarantee against a 5% royalty of the wholesale price for the title.
Found at
http://www.idsoftware.com/business/home ... icense.php
There you can read that the Q1 engine would be free (but that's almost like wolfenstein 3d) and the Q2 (remember Kingpin?) is $10.000 or $5.000 or both (???, didn't really understand what they say there

)
Tell me, what you read, I didn't get it... As far as I understood, we're better starting a fat mod?!

I went over to ID software and tried to get the source code to there engine. BUT in order to use it you have to get a license. They said you have to purchase a license that costs around 10k-100k. So I guess we would have to pour in quite a lot and hope EA wont run us down. You know that every 4 games released 1 game comes from EA. EA is the next Disney of software game.
We can also try to release the source code to our game after like 3 1/2 years of having the game on the market.

Hey nuggets! I hope you're not off buying a rope to shoot yourself, now!?
We could try a total modification in any direction we decide, couldn't we? These $$$, ??? (have no pounds on keyboard) wouldn't be enough for all of us anyway! We would make it for fun, to reach nirvana or to become famous (last two rather unlikely)!
What do you think?

Na nana nana! Im so special! My contry has a special character for money! Because money is the most important thing in the world!
( Sweden uses
Kr, short for
Kronor. Kronor translates to
Crowns, like the ones the king has on his head ( like, never these days... ). Makes
no sense at all, does it? Now I'm totally confused... )
