Nearly! I typed in 'maplist' and saw my file. When I double clicked on it I got the Medal Of Honor Spearhead title screen (at this point I think it's loading my map), but then I end up back at the main menu. What's up?

what program r u using using to compile ure maps? If u r using mbuilder (which i should hope u are) then have u checked for errors when it compiles. also make sure your .map,.bsp etc. are in MOHAA>Main>maps.

Hope u get it sorted.. Ive had a lot of compiling problems aswell recently. now my MOH Radiant is all messed up! (lol)

:? complicated stuff is mapping.... at least when ure me anyways

I may be wrong... I havent actually used the spearhead SDK as you may know if youve seen one of my previous posts it wont work! Does spearhead SDK have a built in compiler or do you still use mbuilder? if it has a built in one then i can answer nowt about the actual compiling. if u havent already got it try mbuilder it works 4 my maps.

 complicated stuff............[/i]

I've got Mbuilder and there is a builder in SDK too. I've tried both. Both come up with *******ERROR********* when it tries to compile. I don't know what to do and I'm thinking of packing this whole mapping business in! It's not that I've found the early stages hard, it's just seems like stupid software problems are stopping me! Bah!

Ok this confusion is down to my unwillingness to buy Spearhead - it means that I don't know the exact setup of the files.......

If you have MBuilder this is what I think you need to do :

Game Dir - C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\mainta - this is the SH game directory as it would be on my PC.

Compiler Dir - C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\SDK\tools - this is where the new compile tools are. Its important that you use these for a SH only map.

Map Source Dir - C:\PROGRA~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\maps - This is where I save my maps (from MoH Rad)

Obviously change the settings on your MBuilder to suit where you installed everything......

As for the *****Error***** we need to see a bit more to be able to help you with it........

I think i'll have to go buy SH .......

In your MBuilder options are they set for a single player map?

PROBLEM SOLVED!! (i think)

when it goes back to the menu go to the console and scroll up till you see an error message. it have the name of the object messing up your map under or on the same line as it. fix or delete this object and your map should work fine. Things i have encountered:

messed up func_rotating door

static item > battery

table lamp

hope this helps!!!!!!!

I'm back!

Well, I'm back. The temptation to build maps is over-powering! I didn't manage to solve my compiler problems from before, but fingers crossed this time.

By the way, thanks for the helpful posts

Eek! :)

Lol, it appears the same old problems are back

I don't know how to upload screen shots so I'll type out what Mbuilder says in a moment.

First, this is what I'm up to...

1. I intend to use Spearhead to see all the maps I make.

2. I'm doing the tutorial for New Mappers (Building your first room).

I've built my room, with 1 light entity and 1 player start. I've saved it under the name 'Starting'. (C:/Program Files/EA GAMES/MOHAA/mainta/maps/Starting.map) (Filters are set to: <None> in MOHRadiant SDK)

Right then, Mbuilder said the following when trying to compile my room (I'll write it out as I see it on my screen)

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\MOHAA\mainta\maps>"C:\PROGRA~1\EA GAME~1\MOHAA\SDK\TOOLS\Q3map.exe" -gamedir C:\PROGRA~1\EA GAME~1\MOHAA C:\Progra~1\EAGAME~1\MOHAA\MAINTA\MAPS\Starting.map

Phew! That's all of it. OK....what does all that lot tell anyone?

Something I have noticed is: The last bit of what I just typed (the bit that ends... 0 file(s) copied) One of the directories mentioned is... C:\PROGRA~1\EA GAME~1\MOHAA\main\maps (Notice the MAIN instead of MAINTA!!)

Well hope someone can help!

Problem solved!

I just needed to remove my custom .pk3's from mainta. (well actually i just put them in a new folder in mainta called 'custom pk3')

Hope that helps anyone else too :D

Doors and Testing

Hello all,

I've been working through the tutorials again, and I'm stuck on the door tutorial (sliding door)

My problem: What I am unclear about is:

Do I use the 'Caulk' brush to make a door, right click and select func --> door, then push 'n' to select an angle

OR

Do I right click (without making a brush with the caulk) and select func --> door and fit that to my doorway, then push 'n' to enter the angle?

OK, now how do I play my map with an actual player (with a gun)?
I can hover around in my map and view what it would look like in the game by doing the following:

Load MOHAA:SH, Open console menu, type 'Maplist', select my map, and voila!

My aim: I want to test whether the doors I put into my map work properly before I progress to the next tuorial.

For making doors: the first way was right

As per looking at it, move the bsp into the maps/dm or maps/obj folder depending what type of level it is. Then load up SH and select the map after starting up a multiplayer game

Still doors!

Hi,

Thanks for the last post, I can now play my map/room to see if the doors work.

I managed to make a 'Rotating' door (i.e. A regular door, such as one in your own house).

Unfortunately, I can't get a 'Sliding' door to work :?

My perception of what a sliding door is:

I assume a 'Sliding' door is a door that opens by sliding into the wall. (Such as a door on a subway train)

What happened when I followed the tutorial for 'Sliding' doors:

I made the door just fine, but I was unsure what angle to use. I tried a few and tested them in Spearhead. When I activated my door, it slid towards me away from the walls rather than sliding into the wall. It moved about a door width towards me. I tried other angles but the all seemed to have the same effect.

The layout of my wall for the door:

Viewing in XY Top window (in MOHRadiant) : My wall runs in the Up/Down direction (The same as the scroll bar to the right of this screen).

It is a solid wall 24 units wide (x=24) made up of 3 brushes (Just like in the tutorial).

My aim:

To make a sliding door that opens in the 'Up' direction or 'Down' direction

How do I achieve my aim? Do I need to make a space for my door to slide into?

don't use an origin, and use angle 180 / 0
