Ok, maybe it is me, but it seems like you are making this so much more complicated than it needs to be. Your TRIGGER/switch should be the thing that doesn't reset for 5 seconds, not the life of the canteen. Or maybe I misunderstand you.
Again, HOW is the canteen triggered??? If you use a normal 'switch' that the player will press the 'use' key (e) to trigger, then you *should* have a physical brush that looks like and acts like a switch like in a TOW map. That way you can attach parameters to it that will have the player use the switch...it will visably MOVE, spawn a canteen, return to the normal position and then be inactive for 5 seconds or however long you want.
I don't think you've been very clear on exactly WHAT you want to happen. Do you want multiple canteens at once? Or just one every 5 seconds??? In order to set it up right you need to clarify...and using the 'remove' statement should remove ALL of the canteens because they spawn with the same '$targetname'. Seems to me that you should spawn ONE canteen at a time and have a longer/more realistic delay before the next spawn. But, that's just my opinion.
