i didn't want to say that u should wait, I just ment, that u should buy a card which is good for the games out by now. And u shouldn't look too far ahead because those cards that might(!) be good in even a year are too expensive. The prices are sinking faster than the game requirements are growing and u might get a sufficient card now plus a sufficient card in a year for less than a card which will be sufficient in a year but bought now. Esp. when u keep in mind that u could still sell the 1st as soon as u have the 2nd (or stick it into one of your other pcs...)

ooo, my english... not sure whether this was clear, sorry

If you want something that's going that's going to kick ass into next year, I'd go with a Radeon 9800XT (If you've got the dough).

well that was in mind ,but the benchmark i saw ,showed that the radeon 9800 256 (that what it was called) was a little lower than the radeon9800XT in performance so i presume its cheaper as both havent come 2 my country yet (i havent checked 4 a while now,but the geforce fx 5900 is here :? ),but i presume it will come by the summers.or i could get it from america and have a friend fly it back (or take it and never comes back  )but im not sure yet,it depends on the price ofcourse as my countrys currency is now worthless against the $dollar$ comparing with 2 years ago.

I never took into acount that you (M & M) were in another country.

Sounds like the gforce card you spoke about should be your best bet.
It also sounds like the ppl with these cards seem to like them. :D

Do what ever you can to make your PC rock in the games.

iv player games with Radeon and they SUCKED!! graphics were fine but it was slower, it had to chew through it slower i guess, and after a couple hours of that my friend (whose comp i was playing on) noticed popping noises and we cracked it open, fan = stop. stoppedfan= bad. bad = me charge nearest shotgunner and bash him to pieces.

you get the idea. listen to Rodney, he knows.

other than hardware probs and a bit slowability Radeon isn't really too different from Nvida. but i am biased for nvida. :D

Hehe, i have a pretty old comp with a NVIDIA Tnt2 16mb vid card in it. Although its pretty old and not great, i have had NO problems with it... the ONLY problem that i have had is that i cant play the new games with a 16mb vid card!

I just bought a Radeon 9200 128mb vid card and a fan, i have heard that NVIDIA and ATI are pretty close, but that the ATI you 'get more for your money'... so i guess thats why i picked it...

I'm sorry if I offend here, but your full of it. I dont know what radeon your using or have used, and what the rest of your pc has in it. I have a crappy old radeon 7500 PCI card in my old pc which has run every game I have ever bought without hardly any lag. (it did have some). Also I have 2 pc's at work which have radeon 9700 pro, and the other radeon 9800 xt, and I have yet to find any game where I can set ALL settings to max, and manage to create lag. (And yes I do play games at work, on break unfortunately)

I personally am building another new pc for myself, and I'm going with Nvidia, just to see what all you folks are so geeked up about. With that said I have no bias to either, as I just want my pc to kick ass at gaming. I really think alot of the bashing against radeons is unjust. I have noticed one big difference and that is the radeon fans dont seem to be bashing the nvidia. Which either means they dont dare, or they dont need to stoop to that level :?

My ATI===== 0 problems
My friends NVIDIA===== big problems, slower!

Guess it comes down to workmanship behind the soldering iron. Or a particular model.

i suppose it might be preference, but serious ziptie, that thing was slow, it was about what i'm using now datewise and this one's fine for performance. i get high eighties fps on all my mp gaming. (unless the server's really slow)

it was slow, and iv never been a fan of Radeon. try it and see. Radeon peple don't dare bash NVida caus' they got nothin to bash on about compared to their lousy stuff!!

maybe i am biased, but i believe firmly in Nvida.

well if ur not really a hard core gamer (as in wish a real life didnt exist) then i would say the nvida. I build computers too, and wish there was no such thing as a real life, sicne all i like to do is computer stuff, and nvidia has no problems what so ever, and they got cool software, which im surprised no on mentioned. how bout that nvidia desktop huh? that rules. also only a 64 mb card and i can play MOHAA on full with no lag (around 50 frames). my friends ati was horrible, and he switched to nvidia. i say nvidia all the way (preferably PNY since they seem to do it right, or Asylum)

Well, in all seriousness myself. I have built about 10 pc's for freinds and a couple at work, and I have put several different cards in them ranging from the old 3dfx voodoo 5000, to the latest a radeon 9800xt, (including a couple nvidia's) and I have not heard of any serious problems pertaining directly to the video cards. I belive whatever the case with slow performance in radeons is simply the rest of the computer, and NOT the card itslef. For Example, my father wanted me to build him a pc a short time ago, and I used the ATI radeon 7500 64mb pci card out of my old pc in his. As I said earlier, my pc using that card had some lag in high graphically intense areas of games, BUT when I put the old girl in the pc for my father, it blew the doors off my old pc in performance in the exact same situations. The comparison from my old one to his was simply a bigger processor and much better front side bus speed. The ram, sound card, and hard drive were virtually exactly the same. This is the reason that I will not talk a harsh word about any periferal, cause unless you plug these comparing cards into the same computer, than you have no basis in comparing. Then again if there are folks out there who have done such things than they could be considered in the argument. And finally when it comes to the latest high end cards from both competitors, I believe that neither one will have a noticeable difference unless your creating some kind of computer animated graphics, or something in that order. I think the only real difference to be considered is durability and what kaiOty mentioned with software and addons.

And I dont mean to be an a** in arguing with poeple, I just dont really care to hear poeple criticizing things that some REALLY skilled poeple put alot of hard work into, especially if its not deserved.

Hope I didnt make any enemies in these rants   :D :D
