actually tom, it isnt. teh cdrom drive like all otehr hardware is controled by the motherboard (mainboard if ya nasty :D :D ) and he cud just put the CD in an turn on his computer, though he would have to change the boot order to CDROM first (del enters my bios, and u cant "click" on advanced, u need to use the keyboard)
There are only 10 kinds of people in this world; those who know what binary is, and those who don't.

I just installed xp over windows ME.
I made a boot disk first, formatted me hard drive then rebooted w/boot disk, then did an install w/xp.
u could have just upgraded !!!!
but i guess a clean install is better
This is why if you leave a floppy in the drive, that is not a boot disk you get an error. If you have a boot disk to install XP that should be easier, but the hastle of finding one...
thats exactly my point !!!!
with the cd u could just jump into the install right away
but 1st u have to change the boot order .and if u had a non bootable cd in there after changing the order ,nothing happens .the system just loads up as normal as b4 .however if u have1 ,the system will boot from the cd .so if u dont want that ,change the order back .
it shouldnt be more than 20 clicks(on keyboard buttons)
