Yes, I know, sry for that.

But you guys really think it's impossible? If it works with BF, it will work with mohaa. Check the list of games which CAN be abled to send their info :http://www.int64.org/docs/gamestat-protocols/index.html

And Mohaa does use the gamespy protocol. And ASE has given BF Tracks their acces to the ASE Master server too. They are only getting better with this.

BF2 is lots different than MOH, it uses very little of the same coding, for instance, in MOH if you could paradrop and see the whole map like you can in BF2, your computer would probably crash MOH or show the same frame for a full minute. that's just Vis, BF2 has dynamic lighting, it can easily support 64 players in a single server, etc.

it's completely different than MOH.

moh has dynamic lighting:P

BF2 also used up 7gig bandwidth!:O

though it dont crash when showing too many vertz

Yes, MoHAA uses the gayspy protocol, but it does not return player scores.

Look, there aren't many games coded the same. BF1942 and MOH are both different as it is, the BF series was MEANT to have that feature, MOH was never meant to be like that. it's not built for it and if you tried it you'd use more bandwidth than BF2 does, and you'll need a HUGE server with players that dont change their names.

I mean, if you can find a willing server with about 40 gigs of free space and 10 gigs of bandwidth (approx) per day and gather every player in MOHAA's name down to the byte, then go ahead. It'd be fun.

All i'm saying is that it's not realistic, it'd take a LOT of resources that aren't available for cheap, and it's something that not a lot of players would use anymore, MOHAA multiplayer is dying anyway.

K, guys, ty for all your comments, they are really appreciated.
BUT, if you all say that it isn?t possible, I had to think of a new idea. So
I did. 8-)

(("NEW IDEA"(( :P

Lets make stats of every server seperated from eachother: like every server ranking on a different ?page. Maybe when it?s all running then, I can make a ranking from the overall. Maybe I have to make the total ranking myself. Or I can find something to do it automatic. Well, comments, I can handle you!

And Rookie.PL : Thanks to ?GAY?SPY this forum exists. So don?t fuck with gamespy  .

I think you should hold your horses a bit, Steelie. Don't tell me what should I do or shouldn't.

I know the matter from the techincal point of view, I made my points. I say this is a virtually impossible undertaking and will not participate in this discussion anymore.

K, how many do I get if I work it out?

look, ranking MOHAA at all is virtually impossible.
Yes it's a cool idea, ranking would be fun. but it's just not feasible. The way teh game is structured rules out ranking as a major opportunity.

But hey, you'll figure that out when you try it so who am i to waste my time trying to convince you?

ok Steelie your here to gain information rather than win friends that much is clear, as a mapper and not great at scripting I can offer you nothing other that telling you that lizard and rookie have been offering their advise
to the best of their ability (which is vast) for a long time.
I admire what your trying to achieve but does it have to come at a cost of damn right rudeness?
Your a small fish in a very large pond and these people are trying to advise the way they see fit and for what? so you can call them "nerd" and the like...pfffft why do they bother.
I'll tell you why they bother, they bother because they wish to guide and help anybody that takes an interest in this great game with the knowledge they have obtained over the years.
Good luck, your going to need it.
PS: before you read my post count and call me a noob dont believe everything you see

Sorry if my comments have already been covered, i basically just skimmed through the pages and read a few points here and there....

For the issue of rankings, it would be a great addition to moh:aa but, like aforementioned, there are to many variables to control. Many players change their names and so your server scanner would read it as different people.

Another issue would be the rankings itself. Also previously mentioned was Csport, yes, the more you play the higher ur ranked.. but how else could you possibly do it with all the servers? you would have to get all the information from all the servers (not to mention the issue of the different game types, that could cause some confusion) then add up the kill/death's... create a fraction/ratio (rounded down) and that would be your rank... whoever would have the best ratio.

The thing is, this would (im pretty damn sure) have to be a MANUAL process, no programs or scripts could do all of this and so thus, its more time then it's worth.

my idea would be to just get a few servers (your own and/or some others) and get the stats from them, then do this manual labor thing and advertise these public servers (this way you can get the IPs too and name-changes wouldnt be a problem.. if someone has a dynamic IP, tough.)

NOTE: id just not bother actualy and stick with csports... it has frags and has your own personal info thats neat looking at. frags, favorite servers, etc.... its more of a ranking against yourself. http://www.csports.net/(2m3342yxyczxqjv ... =205524037 thats one of mine :P
