To you
Bjarne, this is the point I was trying to get across. You have to admit, Cobra did spend alot of time creating this mod and to use his textures should cause one to think of asking a little permission to use them, don't you think? It's called common courtesy. I'm not trying to put the guy down, just trying to show him what he should have done. I mean, c'mon, Copying Southern France
Wilson? We are all copiers if we make anything that looks remotely like the game or use any of the textures that came with the game if you want to make that argument. The reason we are sticking up for Cobra is that he took the time to make these and he should have been at least mentioned somewhere here. I don't remember his name being mentioned once.

Well, after been following this thread for a few days I feel a need to speak out a bit. I can understand that when
Gen Cobra saw the screenshots with his textures being used on this map made him angry, but this map is still under development and not a Final map thats been released.
We're all copying, ripping and getting influenced by other people's work, other games and thats probably how we all develop our skills... dont see a harm in that as long its not Too obvious. If a mapper/modder uses anyone elses work for display in the their production, then it should be mentioned with the final release...
Maybe
SlasherZ should have mentioned that he 'borrowed' the textures from the CN maps, when showing the map idea he's been working on here at .MAP, I dont think he was about to release this with CN textures, and if he would, he'd probabaly ask you CN guys if it would be OK. I think a appology should be enough to clear things out... no release... no harm done
come on guys

I agree... with all of you actually.
I feel stuff like this should be resolved something like this ( just use your common sense ) :
- If you get angered by someone: PM them first to point out that you feel wronged before flaming in the forum. Let them explain themselves. Most arguments are not serious and will stop at this point with both beeing satisfied.
Maby Cobra did this already, I'm just saying it as a general statement.
A really good way to make a lot of people angry in a short time for no particular reason, is a full frontal flame without warning in the forum.
Basically: You don't want to be policed, and we dont want to police you. Be nice to each others.
*Hugs to all*

I am all for sharing
I agree a little mention of where you got your idea's or pre made stuff from is common coutesy, I guess we have all been guilty of not giving credit everytime we made something, though of course in a final realease credit should be given.
I have learned my mapping from looking at what other people produce and hoping to duplicate similar things myself, we all stand on the shoulders of others that have gone before. If I make something new I happy to share it though I doubt much of what I make is worth borrowing

You can freely rip and tear whatever you want apart. I can't stop ytou. That's the beauty of the web for most people. But the beauty of the net for me is that I don't have to support you by allowing you into my forums, site and on my server. I for one have given a lot out to the community. But instead of just ripping my work off why don't you try to understsand how I did it and make your own. All I did was Ask Jeeves and use a digital camera for the rest.

Fair point Cobra, open stuff up, take a look how things are made, learn a little, then branch out and make your own things, this is a fair way to learn I think, direct duplication is a rip off, but an original with things you learned from someone else is fair, at least I think so.
I often find that sites that wont let you right click are usually crap anyways
Slasher, you can grab tons of textures here
http://www.planethalflife.com/wadfather/index-old.htm hopefully that should help keep you out of trouble
