The number of posts is not important ( some people may disagree with me on this  ), great friendly people trying to learn stuff and then helping others with similar probs is the greatest part of the site.

So thanx to everyone here! :D

TlTrude ...got another door problem. I made a door with breakable windows ...problem is when I open the door for some reason the windows create an invisible barrier and wont let me pass. Visually the glass moves with the door but still cant pass by normally I need to shatter the glass for my player to be able to cross the door way.

let me know if you or anyone else can help. thx

oh by the way Just in case ..I binded my glass to my door so that the glass moves with the door.

instead of binding it, try making it part of the door function. select the door parts and the window and right click the go to add to entity. it should all now be part of the func_door. see if taht works for you.
and bjarne of course u dont care about post, u got 2000+ :D  :D

so if I do that the glass on the door should still shatter?

func_window

The func_window will move when the door moves (if you bind it).

$front_door_window bind $front_door // <--a line in the door2 script

But, the broken window script-object will not move because it is hidden, and that is your invisible brush. If you take the front door of my door2 house apart, you will see how I overcame that problem.

Note: If you select one brush of an entity and hit Ctrl E, all brushes of the entity will be highlighted.

got that NOTE cuz that sure was a problem when moving my 'moving' fire escape but still for the door I dont have the after effect for the shatter. The window on the door is just one brush with the 'Func' Window and my bind is:

$pawnwindow bind $pawndoor

I have two that work perfect but two others have an invisible barrier which is removed when the window is shattered.

Ex/ you could be facing the open door and door way and shoot at nothing ...not even aiming at the glass from the door yet it shatters the window.

I mean you can still enter the building but its anoying that there is like a bump that you have to go around to get in and that bump is gone when you break the window.

I'd send you the map but I have so many custom textures I really dont want to bother with it. its like almost 20mb and its unfinished most of the mb is textures as you know.

instead of binding it, try making it part of the door function. select the door parts and the window and right click the go to add to entity. it should all now be part of the func_door. see if taht works for you.
will need to try this yet didnt get a chance but will attempt

thx all for the help.

its always onething when mapping :?

ya, it can be.

i haven't seen tltrude's tut map yet but here's my idea...

since your broken window is separate, try binding that too. so

Code: Select all

$whole_window bind $front_door
$broken_window bind $front_door
and do try that thing with making both the windows part of the rotating door. :)

Soul Extractor - can you send me a prefab that includes one good door and one bad door? (tltrude(at)sbcglobal.net)

To make a prefab, highlight all the brushes of both doors and click on File > Save to Prefab. Then attach that file to your e-mail you send me.
