I see, your frog's back again :D
Alright. I got another question about meshes: as you see in the ugly pic above, I dared to use patch mesh :D . My problem is, that meshes don't seem to be solid - is there a way to like clip meshes?
E.g. in the Dieppe map: Those cool angles, how are they done? Could I actually make something like this with meshes?
Or the cliffs in the pics where Mj showed off with his new style grass  : how did you do those, Mj?
Oh, when I'm at it: What do I have to do to make the water move? (Like the canal in the opera map...)

If your patch mesh is not solid, it is because the textures shader says so. There are some grass and road textures that are like this for some reason.

As for moving textures ( like canal water ) it is controlled by the shader as well. Take a look at the shader for some water texture you like.

Dieppe was made almost entirely out of brush  I'll feed the .map file to Oscar later...

As for the cliffs they are 7*15 peices of patch mesh bent in wierd ways :)

Meshes should be solid :? They do go a bit wierd sometimes, though - if they are bent in too weird and wonderful ways.

As for moving water, the water moves itself :) The texture itself is moving, so nothing needs to be done in rad apart from apply the texture

Exactly. The shader tells the game to modify the surface's geometry.

Okay. So that african texture I'm using (see pic) ain't solid?! Could I (if I can :D ) actually change it's shader to make it solid if it's not? I tried to put caulk brushes under it but that's rather difficult 'cause of its stupid shape...
How do I recognize a flowing water texture? Do I have to check the shader for this?

And, btw, where could I play the Dieppe map? On what servers do you usually play? What modes?

Which african texture is it? Is it grndset_2af? This ought to be solid. :? So it's probably rather the mesh, its slopes too steep, or s/th similar (as Mj stated). So u could redo ur meshes hoping to gain better results or build those clips below it. But to be sure, tell us the texture's name and/or look up its shader.
Water textures can be a real pain in the uknowwhere. Their shaders are rather complex and their behavior is difficult to predict. Also, they cause (atleast for me) different effects on differently sized meshes/faces. Probably the easiest way is apply the textures in a little test map and take a look :?
Btw, the frog errr Oscar is back because Judge woke him up with a nice bridge prefab and a map file! :D

:D

How long can Oscar go without food and stay awake?

I better start feeding him some prefabs (as soon as I can procure a USB drive :( )

Alright, I'm too tired to look up the texture right now, but just what about the server question? Where do you usually play (I tried to check lizard's IP out but whenever I'm there nobody else is :? )
Well, I think I'll forget about the water stuff then.
Btw, wacko, you're actually quite cruel to Oscar - just imagine everybody's on holiday and no new stuff'd arrive - you'd get him killed!!! That's... leaves me speechless...

Ah, no! Don't give up so fast 8-) U could go visit Oscar and fetch s/th helpfull. For example my old Dorf got a river. And Tltrude has a tutorial map with some water on his page too. U'll easily find out how to make ur water flow :)

Hey no, I ain't: I even feed him with my own crappy maps (most of the time unfortunately)! Well, he won't die anyway, just faint  And: What else should I do but spam this forum about him and the recycling bin?
