Nooo. Way off, it may not be for you, but that's opinion.

Marijuana is for some, but not for others, simple as that. There's nothing greatly wrong in smoking it, it's a personal choice.

It's not a cheat - it's something you do with friends, sociably, like drinking.

Seriously, go to a party. A huge party, but with no booze or weed. Half way through, add them both. The party will become 100x better, believe me.

Yeah I like marines angle, you either take it or leave it, simple choice.

I liked hogs clip too, very funny, could just picture the dude strolling up to the car of old ladies with the cigarette hanging from his mouth :)

I'm going to break my little "vow of silence" in this topic... just because seeing all these stoners trying to advocate their addiction by saying "everyone else does it" "it's not as bad as alcohol" "lots of old presidents did it"

Enough. those are weak and you know it. We're not talking about who does it. we're not talking about alcohol. we're talking about marijuana and it's effects on you. So far i htink we all agreed it damages your brain, lungs, mouth, and your ability to be happy on your own. If you wish to contest any of those go find the FDA's website and look at their take on it.

Saying it's closer to harmless than alcohol is desperate. Most drinkers are social, and alcohol is not as addicting in it's many forms. (Who have you heard of that's addicted to champagne?). Most socially accepted drinks are one glass, about 1/4 of a pop can. Most people aren't affected by this, and it's power lies in quantity. If you drink a keg of wine in a night you're going to be smashed. Most storebought beer is notably weak as well, thus why people can down 6packs in one night and feel only mild or moderate aftereffects. A common roll of weed not only gets you addicted, but it also packs much more punch per pull than a beer bottle does. Generalizing alcohol to weed is like a bushel of apples to one orange and saying apples are better for you. You have to consider who drinks how much and how powerful it is.

And for god's sake man, have you ever heard of a successful whiskey drinker? They generally end up working the low-end grunt jobs, like the dump or the train station.

And here's something else, it's been proven over and over again that alcohol before the age of 21 is debilitating to your still-developing mind and body. (and i don't mean stunting your growth). What do you think marijuana does to you? Doesn't take a nuclear physist to figure it out. Even if you are 30+, having done it in your teens will have hurt you. Even doing it now will hurt you, but perhaps not as drastically.
Seriously, go to a party. A huge party, but with no booze or weed. Half way through, add them both. The party will become 100x better, believe me.
Yeah i've no doubt a cloud of weed hanging around the place and dump as much beer as you can buy on everyone, they'll be blasted out of their minds. I doubt anyone's ever denied that weed or alcohol affect your mood, and if they do i'll say they need to go back to elementary school.

i'm sure we all know about how happy it makes you.
OK, We were taught in school that George washington chopped down the cherry tree and had wooden dentures but why do you think they didn't teach us that he also raised and smoked marajuana?
That my friend is brain-washing!
So... how do you know this? did one of your doped-up friends tell you this as a joke? There's virtually no way to prove our first president smoked or grew his own weed, as all that'll be left of him is his bones. you can say the dinosaurs rolled their blunts by the millions and invented the pipe, but i won't believe something you can't present to me as a fact, not just a wannabe-tidbit. Sorry, but i'm a logical person. it's how i think.
Maybe in the US, but in Britain I am positive it is not.
do you even know what a narcotic is? It's not a subjective term, it doenst depend on laws and it certainly doesnt matter where you shove it, it's a narcotic.

Now i'm finished. That's most of my material against your addictions, i have some more iffy pieces but i'll save those for when i meet someone face to face.

Live without the crutch of enforced happiness, or die dependant. It truly is your choice.

and your ability to be happy on your own
your predjudice is clearly defined in stating this as a fact 'everyone' has agreed on. In fact, I think only you and rookie would agree to that. The rest of us would likely laugh.

I know many whiskey drinkers who have achieved some degree of success. I know many functioning alcoholics, though I wouldnt reccomend becoming one.

I dont believe anyone has advocated takign drugs to excess, or any extent really, as a child.

No one is trying to make you take any drug, so heres what ya do...

dont take drugs.

the only debate here is those who think drugs are evil and are trying to save the rest of us 'weak pathetic souls'. We dont need saving. No one is trying to make you take drugs, or even inferring that everyone would be better off on drugs. No one is suggestign that those who dont take drugs are 'too weak to take a chance', all such ideas from both sides are patently ridiculous. There are weak people in the world, all sorts of definitions for what makes one, but association with one topic has gotta be the flimsiest.

You have a valid opinion, but perhaps it is harder to persuade people for more reasons then that they are simply mind-dead addicts, even with your years of research and real life experience~
