How about the new unreal stuff, that was used for america's army, where you was talking about madmapper, it's free.

I think that we also need our own forum in the future for this project, I can get and create a very good one for free.( Invision Power Board v1.3.0g ) 8-)

Obviously nobody read the post where I said I had a Phpbb forum up, and empty... its there but not in use. :P

Also everyone should read this:

http://www.gamedesignx.com/

If not all of it, you should read a portion... its useful and interesting!

I already knew these links (but strongly recommend for those who don't). Where is your forum, mad? do you have a web space?

And about the engine, can we share $100 between 10-15 guys? C'mon...Let's go for the best engine possible so there will be no regrets later...And we need to test the new unreal stuff to see if it's really great.

Yes I have a small bit of space... (its a subdomain, but its really the only thing at the adress...) I could host us a site... Also, looked at the brand new unreal (America's Army), looks great, also looked at an older version (Deus Ex) which could easily be really good... it's really low poly models they used but you could plug in better... also looked a Torque.... it all depends on what we plan to do, focus on...

I just tryed the Torque engine and found it really good! Nevertheless, I'd love to know more about the Unreal engine. Is it really free? Where can I d/l? I've found some other interesting engines:

Game studio:
http://conitec.net/a4info.htm

Although this one it's not free, it have prices from $89 to $899. There's a version from $299. Looks real good.

Genesis3D:
http://www.genesis3d.com/

This one is free. Just need to display their logo.

Let me know what you think  !

Hey I noticed you only want 10 mappers but that is really what Im best at so that is what I would really like to do, and the other stuff of course.

This engine if we do pay for it would all members be able to use it...how would that work?

Bad news: looks like Torque is $100 per programer, as I read here

So we need 1 programmer, but for the others: mappers etc. don't need to licence the engine. bacause if we use Torque, we are going to make the maps in quark, compiled into a format that the Torque engine understands. That's what Bjarne said to me.

Added ya rancid... and no, Unreal isnt free... but you could grab it of the free game... maybe the older versions are free though

Edit: Looked at Torque and A6, both look great! A6 could be potentally cheaper, but Torque has tutorials....

Here is also a free engine, Sylphis 3d:

http://devnet.sylphis3d.com/

You can build the maps with quark (need the last quark version:QuArK v6.4 alpha3)

We might want to go with that as the editor is based of quake and mohaa uses quake so it might be most familiar... looked pretty good!
